I think OW2 should go the Fortnite and Fall Guys route and make the BP a one time purchase and lower the skin prices to their level. Fortnite sells their premium skins for $7-9 compared to OW2 $19. Instead of changing the price in the shop I think it would be easier to lower the OW coins price. This is also what Fortnite has done before when they lowered their prices multiple years ago. For people who already has spent money on OW coins could be compensated with extra ones. Compensation for the BP could be 1000 OW coins if you have bought the BP more than once before.
Fall Guys had a similar situation to OW2 were they too transitioned to F2P and their player base are overall much happier than OW2 since they copied Fortnite’s monetization in terms of cosmetics cost and one time buy BP.
The most sensical move when transitioning to F2P with an audience that were able to earn all skins if they played the game enough, is to atleast have an option to earn new cosmetics without needing to spend money every season. Fall Guys way were to implement the 1 time purchase BP and players who owned the game before the F2P transition got it for free.
Compare this to OW2 were people are not able to earn new main cosmetics every season without needing to spend money and not only that, OW2 premium skins costs $18 which is double of $7-9 for Fortnite’s and Fall Guys counterparts and you understand why many people are not as happy with OW2 monetization.
There’s no justification for the cost of OW2 skins when the competition makes at least as good cosmetics for half or more than half the price and that they have a 1 time buy BP. Skins in OW are locked to heroes which means that you will be able to use the skins you buy much less if you’re playing multiple heroes or roles especially with a big roaster over 30 heroes.
Also the only thing you see on the skin for most of the time are your hand/arm so you’re really wondering what you’re paying for and having the prices at least at Fortnite’s level and implement a 1 time purchase BP makes more sense.
I really don’t think OW2 are earning that much money from cosmetics outside of the BP since I very rarely see players with any new skins. Compare this to Fortnite and Fall Guys were you see a lot of players using brand new skins that are outside of the BP all the time.
