Realistically nothing about her screams damage hero besides her kit. Her personality, lore, aesthetic, how she carries herself just don’t point in the direction of damage hero. It goes against established development trends with every other hero in the game. We already know they had this problem with Sigma, when he was originally Mauga and in the 11th hour didn’t think his kit matched his design and lore, its the same problem here but with added gameplay side effects like increased queue times and balance disruption.
The issue here is that you presume fairness equates to equal numbers of hero’s in each role.
Which it doesn’t.
Dps have been the longest waiting role for something fresh. Equal treatment of roles is ensuring every role gets something new in equal measure.
When a new support or tank comes out you will not find me whining that it wasn’t a dps.
Just like nothing about road screams tank.
Her aesthetics and lore are irrelevant to the role she plays.
His size, not sure how many times that has to be said.
It doesn’t work that way.
Dps players do not play dps because they have more options.
They play it because they like the role of doing damage.
You can have triple the amount of tanks and supports and dps would STILL dominate in player numbers.
Zarya and doomfist are the same size. Different roles.
Size is not an indicator of role either.
They just had a tank and a support, why would anyone expect them to come out with another support
Send clip of when this was said by a dev, because I really don’t think they said this.
Like i saidmake supportd more attractive to that type of playstyle
Doomfist frankly either should be a tank of have his hp lowered. Zarya is more the personality of a tank than physical appearance but physically its pretty apparent.
Oh i dont know maybe to make more choice intank and support roles, make heros in those role that apeal more to DPS players to draw them away from DPS que?
Echo was never promised to be a support. And if she has been on the developer’s minds since Titan, that means maybe she was always intended to be more of a damage hero.
That disappointment lots of folks be crying about is simply because they got their own hopes up. If they don’t know how to appreciate free content, that’s a them problem that none of us, including the devs, should entertain… especially with some self-entitled “rework” nonsense
Regardless of what your idea od balance is my point still stands.
Doomfist is a dps with the physicality of a tank.
Zarya is a tank the size of a dps.
Roadhog is a tank with aesthetics of a dps.
Sombra is a dps with the size and aesthetics of a support.
These blow all of the claims of echo “screaming support” out the window.
Support mains assumed something. They are now angry at Blizzard for not meeting those assumptions.
No, be careful about choosing what people presume unless you’re certain, or you’ll be wrong like you are now.
I don’t think they need to be equal, but I DO think the disparity now is far too large.
That would be equal post-launch treatment, but it does not address the inequality that is inherently present between the three roles. So while you would be treating the roles equally by current measures, they would still not be equal to each other because nothing has been done to rectify the native inequality between the roles.
And you shouldn’t, given the number of dps options already available in the game.
Long term though, she might be a good idea - to REALLY get good at her, you need to learn how to play all the heroes, INCLUDING supports and tanks.
I know, this is the flex hero the flex players will own on.
THAT is good.
The timing is very very very Blizzard though.
Honestly I support this idea. Bring back Sym 2.0 and put her on support. Actually might end up being a niche strat to counter the inevitable unstoppable Pharmercy/Echo comp.
No presumption made.
You can deny it all you like but you literally are taking the stance that if there are more dps then the other roles it is not fair.
Absolute hogwash.
Nothing but verbal vomit. There is no role in equality. We are all getting hero’s at the same pace here.
The disparity in the number of choices has never been larger or smaller then this by more then one in any direction.
And you shouldn’t complain about dps being released considering the equal treatment in release schedule. Plain as that.
Oh I dunno, snatching one of our support options and turning her into a dps instead of reworking her to be a viable support option didn’t help.
If you look at the hero release schedule they did two support releases back to back to make up for that.
