Blizzard don't know how to make heroes anymore

Why do they always have to create cringe heroes? What’s going on with that?

Genuine question What’s cringe about the design? To me they look ok

Bro hates the Scottish smh

I’m kind of indifferent to his design really. It’s hard for me to get overly excited about a hero design. But I wouldn’t call it “cringe”, that just seems to be the new buzzword that’s been overused to the point it has lost original meaning.

The real important thing will be how he plays

Care to explain what is cringe about his design?

I wouldn’t call Hazard’s design cringe, but it’s definitely generic. I expected him to look more like that early concept art of Phreak where he’s lanky and wild looking. He just looks like a buff Soldier: 76 with Reinhardt’s physique (not that those two characters are generic).

Yeah, this design is a miss, which is quite rare for Overwatch heroes. The vast majority have amazing designs, but Hazard is just meh.

At least he has a good voice though. That will probably carry his design.

This is how I feel. it’s a find design. People throw around these buzzwords so much it’s exhausting

I’d probably call 75% of OW heroes generic. I think they’re all fine though.

Going by a generic “generic”, the only heroes I wouldn’t call that would be Doom, Bastion, Echo, Ram, Orisa, Winston and Zen maybe.

Cringe? i don’t think so. Too basic? definitely.

The problem with Hazard is that he’s having multiple design elements of an existing heroes.

Ball deserves to be mentioned also

Funny, I think Echo is quite generic. And she’s one of my mains. I put her in like the top 4 of the most generic heroes.

To me though, Overwatch overall has some of the best character designs in fiction. I put most OW characters above the majority of comic book and anime characters in terms of design.

I even think Venture’s design is good. I throw a lot of shade at the character because I think the pronoun stuff is dumb. But visually, she effectively conveys her spelunker theme quite well. Her design communicates what she is and how she would function. Lucio conveys his music theme just at a glance. Doomfist conveys his punching theme at a glance.

Hazard doesn’t convey his theme that well. Just looking at him, he just looks like a big dude and thats it.

To be honest I don’t think hazard is basic at all. He gives me cyberpunk 2077 vibes if anything and to me that not exactly basic. He does kinda feel out of place though. I don’t think there is any other characters gives cyberpunk vibes so maybe that’s why

What exactly is his theme? Like is he a revolutionary leader or something?

why was the robot friend fat?

Not entirely sure. I thought he would’ve been hazmat themed before seeing him.

They clearly nerfed his design from the previous iterations they showed
Now he looks like a nobody, a generic hero, a basic and cringe call it whatever you want, blizzard used to make GREAT heroes back then now they’re all insipid, https://x.com/Onframer/status/1845909202423751106

For now, Hazard is an outlier. If the next hero is also generic looking, then there’s a precedent to say Blizzard has lost their touch. But the last 5 or so heroes have great designs.

You’ve likely confused the term. There’s nothing “cringe” about the new design. The appropriate work you’re looking for is probably “limp”.
