How is it possible that this game mode has stayed this bad, for this long? It’s gotta be some sort of record. Every time I start up the game and get into my first comp match for the day, I keep on thinking… It doesn’t have to be like this, yet some developer chose to make it like this. Please fix your matchmaking before you release the next character.
it’s working fine for me, i almost always get people near my skill level on my team and i fight people near my skill level. sometimes i see people that deserve to climb and sometimes i see people that are probably a bit boosted, but i wouldn’t call it the end of the world.

I decided to try some tank placements after finishing 3164 last season. First game it gave me all golds on my team against plats, easy 3-0 loss. Next game it gave me plats against plats, easy 3-0 win. Still haven’t seen any diamonds yet. Probably should have stayed in competitive quarantine.
Your observation is correct – their matchmaking is utterly broken. Or it’s working as planned and they intentionally want to see total stomps every game.
Autocorrect FTW again.
If you do not play regularly, have no ambition and do not practice seriously, you will always think that your rank is correct.
Only when you start to carry your team properly and win games almost completely on your own you realize that something is wrong.
Instead of introducing a new character to an already broken game, why not try to fix it fitst? Bravo!
You cannot carry. I often find my self in situation eliminating 2-3 players in enemy team before I die and my team cannot use that to press and as such, we lose.
I end up having gold eliminations, gold damage, gold objective kils, gold objective time (not like it matters but most of you only understand this because god forbid you rely on what you actually feel as a player) and it does not bring victory.
You cannot carry, you can only try to be the best for your team you can.
Also, I don’t get why all these support players cried about Ana and Moira being banned when most of them are crap players. Same goes with Reinhardt.
i usually kill 5 enemies in one fight, sometimes thats enough to carry, sometimes not. that’s the reason why some people think matches might be rigged.
Nobody said it is the end of the world so calm down and stop using hyperbole.
Only thing consistent in your games is you. Maybe YOU are what’s bad.
neither did i…

I applaud anyone who still plays Comp at this point with all the restrictions.
Calm down. This is just what I said buddy … read… more … carefully.
What other company releases as much content as Blizzard has for free on a 4 year old game?
Not trolling, genuinely curious. Because I’ve been playing shooters since the early 90’s when you aimed with the arrow keys and I’ve never seen it.
but i never said that it was the end of the world.

The system is too sophisticated and false assumptions were made before the system was put into operation.
One of these assumptions is that players are always trying to win and you can filter out players who are deliberately playing badly.
Hopefully Blizzard’s developers know by now that this is not possible.
People often come up with this argument, and at first it sounds logical.
However, it’s not correct.
Overwatch games are based on so many variables that things like your experience in the game or consistent accuracy or other acquired skills are not enough to win every game.
Even among professional players, there is a consensus that there are always matches that you can’t win.
The only important question is how often such unwinnable games occur.
Is an algorithm used for this? Since Blizzard keeps quiet about it as much as possible, speculation comes up.
I have tested the whole thing extensively with three different accounts and computers and evaluated data on 3000 matches and suspect that a system exists that evaluates players across their accounts and determines how much “fun” a player is allowed to have or should have.
There is probably also a risk score to assess how likely it is that a player will cheat, misbehave in chat or intentionally lose games.
Based on these criteria matchmaking takes place.
You get the best games with the friendliest and most motivated players if
-
you never attract negative attention in the game. Don’t get reported, that’s really important.
-
You mustn’t play too well. You should play as bad as possible without being suspected of throwing.
To put it in a slightly exaggerated way: If Jeff Kaplan wants Pine to never get his arcade loot boxes, they could definitely adjust the matchmaking for him in that way.
Matchmaking is designed to ensure that you have atleast a basic level of fun within a session. It is about entertainment and not about the fairest competition.
- sees the third Throw Hog-1 trick telling everyone to suck his hook while refusing to switch*
- sees another teammate give up and stay in spawn to throw out of spite.*
- another deranker intentionally goes full DPS flank Moira never healing and dying while trying to trigger the DPS players into tilting*
Sure…the player dealing with all that bs is “the only constant” in these games.
Getting real tired of that meme response.
this is a variable outside of your control that doesn’t happen every match - therefore, not a constant.

this part is true.
