My First Blizz game was Starcraft->Warcraft… Back in the… I used to always recommend Blizz games for RTS/RPG/MMORPG… It’s getting to the point I cant do any of these… StarCraft should have become an MMORPG, WoW should have become SOOO Much more then it did… Shadow lands should have opened rifts into multiple dimensions of Blizz games that we could have quested in like Starcraft worlds… In the Starcraft MMO… Heroes of the storm started the bridge into the Multi verse but Blizz dropped the ball again… I could go on and on…
All the people whos games you used to enjoy and who were in charge of them have moved on. Current day Blizz-Act is not who you grew up with.
Have to agree nostalgia is horrible. Been playing Diablo 2 Resurrected and it’s both painfully slow and strangely overgenerous.
Just like bungie back in the day. Its not the same company from 20 years ago. Literally. A lot of the golden gooses that worked higher up in blizzard all left. These newer people dont know good games and they replicate their design from other modern games that make a lot of money. They cant make games as good as blizzard did years ago in the golden age because they simply dont know how to. They only know what makes money and gullible spenders that buy cosmetics is the demographic these days. GTA Online made literal billions of dollars on shark cards and fortnite made billions of dollars from vbucks. Of course theyre going to hop on that. They dont know how to make a great game but they know whats making money.
The company has changed a lot since their glory days and not in a good way. A majority of Blizzard OGs have left the company over the past few years and a lot of their good games have become dead, ruined and/or forgotten
Mine used to be Valve, but they don’t make games anymore
Sony is my new gaming company now.
you should’ve reached that point over a year ago when the blizzard scandal first broke
OW2 Is just starting to feel like if you hired McDonalds to come in and ReVamp/ReOpen your Restaurant… If you spend enough money you get the bigger better things… Or you can pay less but they will nickel and dime you close to the big numbers anyway… You used to have a clear choice with games… Buy the Game outright and get everything or Pay a Sub and Go Get Everything… Now people want to Pay in just as many ways as they Play… >.<
My go to game company is whoever makes their last game awesome.
I treat game companies like I do restaurants: You’re only as good as your last burger.
Now I’ve seen everything.
Indie
Been the way to go for like a decade imo.
AAA can’t compete with Zomboid for $20 or Hollow Knight for $10. They can’t fathom making games out of pure passion anymore. At a certain size, it’s just business.
mike morhaime made 2 new Studios focusing on games as a value of fantasy and not games as a profit.
which is why its founded by him and no publisher.
ashes of creation has a billionaire behind it trying to make the next big good mmorpg without gathering to chairmen pockets
coffee stain Studio has been amazing to their community and show how community managers should act.
the thing with blizzards games imho is the lack of competition
There is One Major Comp FF14 and they hurt their whole Franchise by forcing it behind a every single char story wall unless pay to skip… Otherwise WoW would have died… If one char skipped the MSQ for alts… F14 would have killed WoW
I don’t see how this isn’t like every major game company out there now. Trying to single out Blizzard for actions that pretty much every AAA studio do these days isn’t exactly the own you think it is. Sure it sucks, all we can hope for is that the shop prices go down.
One of my first favourite games was Warcraft 3 reign of chaos from then on i loved blizzard quality.
Starcraft2 was epic, then overwatch was so much fun and had so much promise.
Cd projekt is doing good by it’s customers even now, they even gave enhanced versions for free.
If you keep replacing planks of a boat, turns out it’s not the same boat anymore
Because it’s ran by a different generation of gamers/developers. For better or worse-some people grew up on-playing MUDS, Ultima Online, Everquest, ect. Those original devs who played those games are gone or are the minority. Combine that with how games make money today-and you get what we have here…
Today we have Full Sail University dropouts or Phoenix Online graduates in charge.
If you keep washing your face you become a different person? WTF? LOL
This gen of humans have a small world perception lol… Blizz used to have a large world perception and that is why they made Big Money… they started catering to the small world consumers and Blizz has been falling since… This short story, PoP up book, short attention span Gen(s) is killing MMOs and even RPGs… its truly sad…
