So any time I now launch a Blizzard game whether it be Diablo 3, Overwatch or any other, the game takes my high end Comcast internet from 700mbps/30mbps down to 3mbps/0.5mbps. These games have never done this before until this week. I can’t livestream anymore. What’s weird is that when I close the games, speed test shows my connection go back to normal, so I know it’s the games clearly that are doing this. Why are these games sucking up so much bandwidth? Any fix for this or is it a dev fix that has to be patched in?
A speed test is not a metric to rely on for testing your internet. All it does is ping a server closest to you to see the max speed the connection can potentially hit.
If you find your bandwidth is reduced while gaming, you may be experiencing throttling by your home network equipment not having the proper ports open or Comcast itself (they regularly deprioritize gaming and streaming traffic because net neutrality does not exist).
