TL;DR at the bottom
So I can’t include links or images yet because of the trust system on these new fourms, but if you go onto the Blizzcon website and look for the “The BlizzCon® 2018 Celebration Kicks Off Early With the Virtual Ticket” post you can scroll down to the bottom and see this:
†The in-game items for Overwatch, StarCraft II, and StarCraft: Remastered will also be available separately in 2019—further details will be announced at a later date.
Ok cool, I applaud and think that It’s great that Blizzard recognizes that some players may not be able to afford the Blizzcon virtual tickets or may not be able to go and realizes that it’s ridiculous for people to spend $60 for an in game item they want because they don’t care about the broadcasts or whatever (as a huge OW fan, I love me some lore and seeing how things were made and the panels).
In short, I think the Sombra Demon hunter skin would have been better for Halloween, but still it’s an awesome skin and it’s nice to see her get another skin. I’m kind of bummed that i got the virtual ticket and it will be available later anyway, but I’m still going to see the panels if i miss them again this year so yeah.
But here’s the main issue: If this year’s in game items are going to be available on 2019 anyway, are there plans to do the same with the 2016 and 2017 Blizzcon items? It seems unfair to do it for one year and not the previous 2. If the Logic behind releasing the exclusives is “we don’t want to hide them behind a $60 pay wall for people who just want the in game items” and “We want everyone to have them” then the same should apply to previous years.
Before anyone kicks up the “Well you should have bought the 2016/2017 tickets” argument:
2016- I had just started collage again and in early November my mom walked out on us, and I didn’t turn to Overwatch until After Blizzcon. I also Didn’t get the game until just before uprising when i finally got the money.
2017- I had set aside some money to get the virtual ticket so i could watch any missed broadcasts as well as get the in game items, but then a situation came up and i had to use that money I had set aside.
2018- I got the ticket this year
TL;DR If blizzard’s going to make Blizzcon in game items Available in 2019 for those who missed out, they should do the same for the previous years as well. Heck, even if they said “You can unlock these in game for 2x the rarity cost” or something, I’d gladly jump on that deal.
