Blatant AIMBOTTING, Lv 27 player. Raise Comp entry above 25

Lol… I just played against one of the most blatant aimbotters I’ve come across in OW, a Is posting replay codes fine? Because I have it. ( Code: [Edited by Blizzard])

I’m a simple man, I like my water clean and my Overwatch Competitive integrity healthy and since 2018 I and others have asked you DEVS to raise the competitive entry level from 25 to 50, 75, or something reasonable, to protect new players and slow down Smurfs and Cheaters like this from rampaging through Comp.

OW2 is the main focus so this change wouldn’t happen until then if we’re lucky but this is something that needs to be strongly considered and imo implemented.

Would raising the Competitive entry level above 25 fix every issue? No, of course not, but it would certainly help.

I answered in another post but for those asking "how would this help"
Raising the Cap to something like 50-75 for example.

  • Helps new players be more skilled before entering Competitive.
  • Slows down smurfs by making the time a lot longer to reach Comp
  • Slows down Cheaters by them accumulating more reports which leads to deletion before they can reach Comp, deters them due to length of time.
  • Deters Boosters because of additional time needed to level up an account for sale.

Thank you for your time.

honestly, raising the level cap for competitive won’t achieve anything. You’ll still face smurfs/cheaters and complain about them.

And it won’t help that much

I respectfully disagree.

Raising the Cap to something like 75 for example.

-Helps new players be more skilled before entering Competitive.
-Slows down smurfs by making the time a lot longer to reach Comp
-Slows down Cheaters by them accumulating more reports which leads to deletion before they can reach Comp, deters them due to length of time.
-Deters Boosters because of additional time needed to level up an account for sale.

Sure we’ll complain about it, but that doesn’t mean we can’t do something to help the situation.

What SR gameplay is the game?

Did you report the player for hacking?

Plat, 2500 range.

Yes I did. But who knows how many games they’ll ruin before they get banned.

How would raising the level solve this?

They would just level up for longer then hack. Or just buy prelevelled accounts.

I don’t think changing it would do anything. I don’t think it is a bad idea, but it really wouldn’t change anything.

There is difference in effort required and price between lvl25 accs and level100 accs

Yes. I agree. I wouldn’t be against them upping it to maybe 40-50. But I don’t think it would actually change a thing.

All it would mean is there are more people playing quick play for longer.

Having just levelled this account in the last month or so. I wouldn’t wish more quick play on anyone.

Considering any new player that plays competitive at level 25 is terribly bad (and may start at 2000SR), the entry level for playing competitive should be raised at least to level 100.
What about smurfs? Well, who cares about what they may feel. Let’s make them sweat those extra 75 levels either by money or time.
No-star-bronze-board players are either potato or smurfs.

I agree that raising the level cap won’t do any major harm, though it can boost the market for accounts.

Which might cause more issues with botnets running full on 6 stacks with scripts to gain levels, which might cause more issues but then again there is no strong evidence to base it on.

They just allow it, everyone is bored and doing bronze-gm ‘‘educationnal’’ and I quote educatiopnnal since you learn nothing.

EDIT: He got banned live on Twitch and it was so good!

But at the end of the day, you’re still going to face smurfs. Sure, raising the level cap may deter people from smurfing, but there are still smurfs who are above that level cap and will continue to “ruin” games. Plus, it wouldn’t really be fair to new players. If I could remember, grinding to level 25 was an already hard task. I shouldn’t have spend even more time to gain access to a part of a game I bought.

This software has been available to players on the “non-professional market” for years.
Technically, there will not be much that can be done against this as long as blizzard refrains from using a kernel component in the anti-cheat thus not being able to ensure the integrity of the entire computer at start-up.

For a short time in a games lifespan, cheaters can be detected by using known tricks and processing in the user level. By now established frameworks are used to develop cheats in Overwatch and cheaters consistently have the upper hand.

The same thing is going to happen with Overwatch 2 and any other game that doesn’t use a kernel component.

Just an update, the guy I reported for Smurfing got banned live on Twitch. My job is done. Blizzard actually do something about idiots like him!

I do think that the entry level for comp should be 50+. Not 200 or something but something reasonable. It’s not a complete fix, but it will help a little

Pre-leveled accounts below the threshold would take a hit since they wouldn’t be eligible, while we can’t do much about the pre-leveled accounts market this change would slow down the pace in which their created and possibly making it less worth their time.

Also, someone playing the game for 50-75 levels just to turn on hack makes it less worth it since the time it took to get to comp was FAR longer than they got to play before being banned.

lol Yeah this would be the drawback, UNLESS they implemented a “MMR Range” system like we have with LFG “SR Range”. The MMR range is so vast to allow more people to play together but if we could narrow that range then it would make for more evenly skilled/better games.

When comp was started we had all had a nice amount of time under our belts and we learned as it went along, right now given the state of the community and the plethora of variables it would make for a bad experience for new players.

Honestly, I didn’t know this was a thing. lol. And yeah if anything it would raise the market price for an account which could hinder buyers who feel it’s not worth the price.

Fair points… But we would face Less Smurfs over time, also I’m not sure how many would want to sandbag to get a lower MMR if it takes so long to get to comp.

I would ague that it’s a GOOD thing for new players because new players don’t have a good enough grip on the game given all the ever changing variables like nerfs, buffs, map layouts, synergy, counters, ability timer counting, meta’s, cooldowns, ult combinations.

OWL is the marketing for this game and they want THAT experience so this stops them from jumping in too soon and being stuck having a bad time in a rank they shouldn’t be in.

And to be fair you had to wait until level 25 before getting to comp so having to wait longer isn’t too bad imo.

the sold accounts would only get a little bit more expensive :joy: if i was about to smurf, i would just buy an account in my preferred sr range.

Sure, if anything the ones that haven’t been sold will go up by a lot, and I wonder will the accounts that have been sold that no longer meet the requirement will ask for a refund?

by a lot you mean 20-30 $/€? :joy:

lol Well whatever they cost now plus the market automatically goes by x times the rank so 100 = x4, then you increase the price for the rank, maybe throw in a few bucks extra for higher endorsement scores.

If the changes come in during OW2 then they can charge even more money because the demand would be higher, and they could complete some things on the PVE side as well.
