Blame the support!

Blizzard! If you pay attention to this…
There is an unfortunate trend going on in Overwatch, for years actually. Which gives the impression that nothing much is being done about it.

I see it far too often, that support get the blame, when finding yourself in a losing game. Maybe there is a genji, or sombra, or something else, flanking the supports, which alone can be frustrating enough as it is.

Then on top of that, instead of helping the supports, we have tanks, or dps players, yelling, complaining, trash talking, an insulting the supports…

Please for the love of… Do something about this, I play Overwatch since the original launch, in 2016 I think it was?.. As a support main, I am so tired of always having this throw at me, by my own team…

More often than not, when one player beings to behave like this, soon after you have the whole team, ganging up on one person, telling their supports to, uninstall, stop playing, or something very very rude real life related insults…

It’s nothing less than disgusting. People treating others this way, and apparently thinking it is totally fine… Since it happens all day, every day, when trying to have an enjoyable gaming experience.

I report probably between 10 and 15 individuals for this in a day. And nearly every day I log in, I get the “thank you for reporting” Message.

But is anything actually being done?.. Cuz it really does not feel like it…

Just play perfectly.

Can’t be blamed for anything then.

i also play since 2016 (closed Beta). the first 2 years people were so nice, but after that suddenly many monsters in overwatch (monster, characterwise). there were one time Orisa with 3-11 and started to blame me as support, hahaha. I just wrote back “3-11”. One time Sigma and second dps started to blame me cause i was apparently not healing enough as Mercy it all was my fault after 2mins the game started. I said “ok Sigma, no more healing for you from now on and also for that 2nd dps”. Illari jumped on train and started to blame me too, i said ok for you also no heals. I only healed/boosted our Sojourn the entire round. We lost in the end lol, but i enjoyed this defeat very much. Yeah go blame Mercy, such a carry character in OW2, S+Tier at least.

That’s exactly it!..
Throwing their flaming and blaming at the supports. It does not exactly make you wanna heal them more… It makes you NOT want to heal that person.

And even if it is a matter of, “the enemy team is just better” Do people really think, that treating other players badly, will magically change it?..

I would love to know what exactly Blizzard even does to address this, increasingly bad etiquette, within what used to be an awesome community.

It’s just sad really, and also I simply do not understand, why some people think it’s oki to behave like this towards others.

which role doesn’t get blamed for everything?
well guess you cannot really hate the dps for not healing.

Weirdly… I had someone shout at me about an hour ago on voice for not healing them. I was Soldier tbf,

any reason why you didn’t heal them?

Off cool down. Not that I told them that. I just used the thanks voice line and carried on.

seems like a valid reason. He should have tracked your cd better then or not relied on teammates to bail him out.

As always. Skill issue.

When you lack it, you blame others.

I don’t think Blizzard has any way of really knowing in advance which players are potentially toxic and which ones aren’t unless someone reports it and there’s some sort of data element to go off of. Unfortunately the system is automated due to the sheer number of reports (some valid, some nonsense), and so it has the potential to be abused.

The very best thing to do in my opinion is to completely ignore them (don’t reply in chat or voice, no matter how much you want to defend yourself) and report them. If you can’t stand seeing their chat then block them on top of it. If you try to defend yourself or interact with them in chat or vc at all then they could potentially counter report you and the automated system doesn’t care, so by not saying anything back to them you are keeping yourself from being temp banned as well.

Play with a friend, it makes the game a lot more enjoyable and makes dealing with little rage babies a lot easier. Don’t have any friends that play often? You’re welcome to add and play with me if you want - I don’t care what your skill level is and I play every day.

Oh I know.
“Do not argue with stupid.
They will drag you down to their level,
and beat you with experience”

I’m not really worried about being reported myself by others.
If people put actions behind their words, then it happens a lot, daily.
I actually already was in touch with Blizzard support about this topic.
That was a few years ago. I’m still here, despite raging teenagers feeling an urge to report me. Of course it also backfires on themselves anyway, when I report them for their behavior, or language.

If their, automated system would actually temp ban me,
cuz of such reports, I’m happy to open support tickets,
and have a normal conversation with a reasonable human being.

I do exactly what you also suggest tho, report and mute.
It’s just tiring.

Anyway! I’m happy to add you! If I can find you, and if you play on EU?
I pretty much only play Stadium game mode currently, and love it!

I’m US based which isn’t too troublesome as far as timezone goes but is unfortunate from a ping perspective. I have no idea what my ping would be on an EU server but i’d be willing to try.

Stadium has for sure brought out some of the biggest ragers who not only don’t grasp that everyone is overpowered in Stadium but also forget that the mode is so new that people are still figuring it out. I had an Orisa yesterday screaming at me the entire match while I played Moira (who I played only once in the match prior) for more healing because they were being nuked on entry without them even trying to mitigate any incoming damage. What made it even better was that they were constantly making remarks about scoreboard stats and comparing theirs with what they thought was mine…but apparently their eyes were broken and they were looking at a DPS player’s. So I just sat back eating popcorn and continued doing my thing to help DPS stay alive and fade around grabbing picks while Orisa drug their face across the keyboard yammering about me on Moira while they were mistakenly looking at the stat line for the guy playing Soldier. I didn’t bother saying anything to correct them, it was just too funny.

I see this a lot too currently.
The amount of powers, abilities and stuff, is honestly quite overwhelming. Even more so, if someone else pick your favorite hero, forcing you to play something, you have no idea how to best play yet in stadium. And of course the ranking system working the way it does in stadium. Means players of all skill levels are being matched up together, (At least up to pro 5 rank) contributing to a very random and chaotic experience at times.

The good thing with overwatch and regions, we can freely play in any region we like. So we could always try. I’m sure for just some casual fun now and then it would be fine.

Nahh

Tank and Support players blame dps usually

I’ve seen this too yes. Which is just as bad…
We shouldn’t be throwing blaming and flaming and rude remarks at each other.
There’s a person behind every account. Talking them down will sure not make nobody play better… But I know what will… Working together as a team, and being supportive of each other.
