I saw a couple other posts about this but they’re from almost 6 months ago. I purchased Overwatch GOTY for my son and watched him play and decided I wanted to give it a shot so I purchased myself a license for the standard $40 version.
The gaming PC (with a GTX 1070) is downstairs on the main TV. Because I don’t want him hogging the main TV I put a Steam Link upstairs on his TV so he can game up there. Moving my beloved gaming PC up there is not an option
We immediately had streaming issues with Overwatch. Other games (Fortnite, PUBG, etc) worked flawlessly. When playing via Steam Link when I went into quick play (tutorials, etc were fine) and the game started the screen went black. I could still hear audio and move the mouse cursor around. I could even move the mouse to the character selection area at the bottom of the screen and click the mouse button and hear the selection sound. When I went downstairs to the main TV the PC is physically attached to I could see the game just fine.
I saw that some people had success using Parsec so I bought a Rpi and installed Parsec on that and set it up to stream from the gaming PC. It works great - even better than the Steam Link - on all games except for Overwatch. Same issue with Parsec.
I tried changing it to borderless windowed mode and tried out different resolutions. I did get it to work briefly with a lowered resolution (1600x900 60) but now it has decided to not work again.
I read that it may have something to do with anti-cheat. Obviously there is no intention to do any form of cheating here. I’d just like my entire family to be able to enjoy a nice gaming rig without having to lug it all around the house.
Any ideas? Has anyone else had any success with Steam Link or Parsec on a locally hosted gaming PC?
