Black screen when capturing/screensharing overwatch 2

When I try to capture overwatch 2 with OBS, shadowplay or screenshare with Discord, The captured screen shows black.

I can play usually, but whatever I capture, it’s a black screen. I’ve tried booting to safe mode and only opening the needed capturing software each time to try and diagnose the problem, but it still showed a black captured screen.

Only the Overwatch 2 window is blacked out in the recording and not other windows like my browser or my OBS

Sorry to revive this 26 days later.

Been having this same issue, scheduled a callback from blizzard to try to get it all figured out, hopefully for good.

I’ve tried too many things to list here and nothing works. With some help from Blizz support, and very few others in the community experiencing the same issue, we’ve narrowed down that this is an issue on Blizzard/Overwatch’s side.

I’ve found that the issue is account based:

  • it does not take place on any alternative accounts I’ve signed in to on my PC
  • it persists if I’m signed into my account on a separate PC

Really hoping to get it worked out soon, maybe come back here with good news.

Hey, do you find a solution for this problem ?

When i switch of account i have 0 problem but when i comeback on my bugged account the problem still here :frowning:

Your account has been flagged as a “suspected cheater”. So, when you join a public match, a window capturing prevention function “SetWindowDisplayAffinity” is called. This is what causing the blackscreen capturing.

You don’t have to cheat for be a suspected cheater. You can go to practice range as Hanzo and start hitting headshots for 4 minutes, congratulations, the well-designed anti-cheat system flagged your account as a cheater.
