If DPS damage prevents 20% of all healing, flankers, and heroes that can dish out a ton a “spam” damage will be really strong. I consider Hammond a winner because he doesn’t rely “to much” on his supports to keep him alive. Also if a Hammond has a DPS who will dive with him, who ever they chose to dive on is pretty much dead.
Losers
Cassidy
Pharah
Symmetra
Widowmaker
All of the tanks except for Hammond
With most of the heroes getting health buffs, Cassidy and Widowmaker can’t “spam” their bullets and expect to get value. You either land those shots and something dies or swap. There’s no in between. With the exception of Hammond, I feel like playing Tank will be become Hell on Earth
Neutrals
Ashe
Hanzo
Junkrat
Mei
Torbjorn
All of the Supports
I feel like the DPS heroes I just named have abilities that will keep them actually where they currently are in the next patch. None of these heroes are bad picks. With all supports getting HP buffs I feel like that with make up the difference with their healing being 20% negated due to the new DPS passive. Supports will have to focus more on making plays and not rely so much on heal botting now.
I’m hoping the new health margins and reduced threat of burst will allow Sym to shine a bit more, though her turrets are truly going to be cosmetic at this point.
The obvious winners are Reaper, Bastion, Echo, and Widowmaker for DPS. Sigma for tank and Zenyatta for support.
The obvious losers are Junkrat, Hanzo, Genji, Tracer, and Sombra for DPS. Roadhog and Mauga for tank and Lucio, Kiriko, Lifeweaver for support.
The rest are neutral and I have no idea about Pharah as she is being reworked. I assume Ball is in trouble too, but he is next for a rework, so… Whatever.
Have to disagree here. You put Widowmaker as a loser but she’s still going to one-shot everyone and have an easier time doing it.
As for losers, heroes with breakpoints between 200 and 250. For example Junkrat now requires 3 grenades to kill and lost his combo. Symmetra, Kiriko, Illari, Hanzo, Symmetra, and Zenyatta are good examples. In addition heroes with upfront damage through abilities, typically assassins, such as Genji, Sombra, Doomfist, Echo, and Brigitte.
I dont think he is a winner. Yes he has more health and heals after a while, but his kill potential is also reduced, because it will take longer to kill and it will be harder to get a dash reset. Not to mention that blade is less effective.
Hard no. The main reason why Soy is strong is her railgun oneshot with boost and the HP changes nerf her indirectly.
The TTK for Sombra is higher so the enemy has a longer window to react, making her weaker.
The passive healing will be to small to matter and his kill potential is in the toilet. It was hard to kill Mei or Reaper before with 250 health and now with EVERYONE having 250, he should be a troll pick.
Can hit things easier with the change and he is not so bursty. Its a neutral change or a buff.
Gets a rework so we will see.
We will also have to see how this works. Reminder that all tanks get a ton of health also.
Both are losers, because they killed of their one shot potential.
You REALLY think so? I would even say for Kiriko the DPS passive is a neat buff that makes suzu always heal 110 HP. They get more health also, so survive longer. For most supports its a net neutral.
You think Pharah will be a loser? She got like…a lot of buffs.
50 more HP
Faster moving rockets
Bigger rockets
Faster recovery time between shots
A brand new ability to dash in the air horizontally
Concussive blast does damage now and has a lower CD
She moves 100% faster in the air and has more control even tho she can’t stay in the skybox forever
Idk I think she will be a lot more fun and dynamic and potentially really really good! I’m excited personally!
Keep in mind that pretty much every hero is getting more health and bigger projectiles/hitscan width. Pharah got a lot of buffs, but without them she would be in dire straits. For example:
It will be easier to hit airborne targets
Pharah can no longer 2 shot, even with two directs
Increased accuracy benefits Pharah less than other heroes due to nature of splash damage
Regardless, I’m a huge fan of the rework and it sounds very powerful on paper.
is his swing 110 damage or 120? Bc one site says its 110 and another 120, his dps rn with dragonblade is either 122 or 133, if we include the swing speed reduction (something like 0.2 second reduction), his new dps is like 150 or 170 dps. 2.1 seconds to kill in season 9, 2.7 seconds to kill currently. So yeah his dragonblade does kill faster, however his shurikens still remain unchanged damagewise and ult charges take 10% longer (for everyone).
I’m picturing Mei as a winner. You want a DPS character that’s good for applying the debuff? How about the one with a freezethrower that can apply and maintain it on multiple enemies at the same time.
eh no, while yes her shots get bigger (which i hate btw as a Widow main) she needs to charge longer for everyone (thanks for killing muscle memory) and she needs to be even closer for the oneshot.
On top of that she gets a Health nerf, yes you read correct the +25 hp are a nerf. Currently she has 175hp which is 87,5% of the Standard 200, with the new patch the Standard will be 250, therefor Widows 200hp are only 80%, overall she gets a Health Nerf of around 7,5%.
Im all for experimenting but only if you a willing to go back if the experiment fails, and the Devs were and ate never willing to do that.
If the leaked patch notes are true, then Tracer is going to be far from a ‘loser’. With the healing reduction on DPS passives, combined with her insane bullet spam on a target, that’s a constant 20% reduction to healing. That combined with her increased health will make her even more popular.
The same can be said for Sombra as she’s got roughly the same fire rate as Tracer. Apply Virus on top of that and tanks are not going to have a good time anymore, same with supports trying to keep their tanks alive.
It’ll definitely have a negative impact on a lot of heroes for sure, but for Tracer and Sombra? Not so much.
If the leaked patch notes are true, it just proves beyond a doubt, that this team and the management team are completely clueless when it comes to balance.
I still dont understand how they make hitscan bullets bigger, like NightHawk says, hitscan literally means you cast a ray from your crosshair to the target and rays do not have thickness.
Junkrat is debatably the biggest loser out of every hero since his combo is almost all of his high rank value and that’s being deleted with zero compensation.
Remember that hitboxes will be bigger now, which will benefit shotgun heroes in particular. That said, whether it’s enough to negate the extra HP or not is yet to be seen.
