Most games are lost because the tracer or genji won’t swap for a bastion or reaper when monkey is melting the team. Same goes for winstons that tries to kill bastions. People get offended when you ask them to switch. The game is basically rock-paper-scissors.
The game is a slot machine, you have the good team so you win, you have the bad team so you lose.
No matter if you try to compensate for the nullity of your team, it is useless.
As well keep your motivation for the next match, hoping that this time you will not be grouped with incompetents yet.
there are things you can do to save these matches but that doesnt mean its not a TERRIBLE gameplay experience.
tanks that refuse to swap are my personal pet peeve just because you have no frontline.
but this is the nature of overwatch, no one wants too play the best heroes they want to play their favorite heroes.
until blizzard realizes that and shift balance a lil bit so counterpicking isnt as important, ranked will always be like this.
imo the majority of the complaints people have about “bad teammates” stems from people not swapping and the team not understanding the issue and blaming something else.
for example for my last match lost in a shameful way
the opposing team is carried by an good echo otp
me: their echo is the carry, we need a hitsan, I support with baptiste
tank: stay on roadhog
dps1: stay on sombra
dps2: change from torbjorn to reaper
other support: stay on moira
result: humiliating defeat
and this happens all the time. on ranked matchs.
The fact is now people don’t care. And play want they want, not what we need.
Players not swapping might be a problem sometimes, yes. But it’s probably way more of a problem at really high skill tiers that is more meta dependent. Although considering how the matchmaking works now by mixing and matching from a wider pool of skill and rank, I’m not entirely sure about how it actually affects meta dependency. Maybe it’s actually intended to sort of break meta dependency a bit.
The lower you go in rank it’s usually a bit more realistic (at least in theory) for any role to counter any role, either by swapping hero or just being effective enough on whatever hero they are playing.
Yes, there is a rock-paper-scissors-element to the game. It’s also highly meta-dependent (certain combination of heroes are just plainly stronger than others). But the lower you go in rank, the less it usually matters.
But I have to confess that I do see quite a lot of players (most likely new to OW) playing heroes into their natural counter on the enemy team and performing quite bad because of it. There is a lot of knowledge about what counters what and what different heroes actually are for, that initially gives the game a high skill threshold.
“No matter what”
Bruh the amount of times dps went from Genji to Realer vs a monkey and the tides turn instantly.
i know the feeling match in a match with phara and echo on opposing team asked the junk to swap to hit scan to help counter them his reply “FU” i even asked in a nice way and explained why i swapped to bap as i do have some success v phahra and echo, was a bad defeat lost both rounds fairly quikly.
too many entitled children playing this game now its free so we cant really expect anything more …
You were playing what exactly?
Seemed like Baptiste was avaliable.
Also those heroes can kill echo decently enough except for Reaper.
when they are perfectly played against Echo, and that was not the case. bad pick, bad use of kit.
At least an average s76 + baptiste could have done it, walking simulator sombra + baptiste can’t
I was baptiste and only one trying to use a hero to counter Echo
Anyways this case is in almost all my ranked matchs, I don’t care now.
And if it’s to tell me that if we lost it’s my fault and only my fault, in a game all 5 teammates must complete each other, I’ve been told this quite often in this forum, I know, no need to bother to tell.
people need to understand that this game is not made to be played seriously with 4 dudes you don’t know and never see again.
try organized scrims and you see the Beauty this game has to offer.
Scrims are actual AIDS and highlight just how godawful the hero balance in this game really is.
The teamwork is fun though.
thats the Beauty in scrims, simply agree on not using certain heroes.
the main issue with people not playing together is quickly fixed by replacing said individuals.
Scrim players think they are in OWL and only play the most META cancer they can.
It’s not fun. Unless you like the current META heroes.
ALL SCRIMS? every single one of them?i would say you must change the community then and join one that can play by new rules they agree on.
as a dumb example, when jay3 asks for no sombra and the guys still pick sombra, do you think he will stay in the community?
maybe but he gets replaced from that game bc they refuse to cooperate with the other 9 players and the spectators.
all I say is you have better chances for that in self made matches than trying or expecting it in random matchmaking
Why do they need to swap.
If the monkey jumps your backline, you jump theirs and use the window where they can’t peel to kill them faster.
Those aren’t scrims… those are PUGs.
my bad, i sadly don’t really do them mostly just watch so i actually thought thats one and the same thing.
so scrims are more a custom competetive match
while pugs are more a friendly match?
Scrims are teams practicing.
They regularly play together against other premades.
If my dps refuse to counter winston, I just play hog, and usually their winston switched to orisa shortly after lol. I had a game where in a single round, the enemy started with winston, I swap to hog, he swap to orisa, and I swap to zarya, and he swap back to winston.
So, your team has two dive DPS and you want your DPS to be counter dive? Why not dive with them? Why not be the one to change… lol
Most of the time people ask for swaps and don’t even realize the person they asked isn’t the issue. Played a game yesterday on Brig and was asked meanly to swap. I don’t swap when asked like that. DPS swapped and suddenly things were easier. On the flip, a Ball was diving our Zen who had terrible positioning. Always by himself, again I am playing brig. He asks our entire team to peel for him, which the tanks does his best. We get absolutely crushed by this because our tank isn’t holding the frontline and now our entire team is rotating into a bad positioned zen. Team asks him to swap. I ask him to change his position and tank to remain doing his job. All he did was follow me as Brig and suddenly we start crushing the enemy team.
Basically, don’t assume you know who should swap because almost the entire community really doesn’t even understand why they died in the first place.
