Best thing to ever happen to OW right here. Even Kiriko wasnt better than the S9 patch, and she is the best. 2024 bestest year in OW2 history just bc of the S9 patch.
Projectile and HP changes are still destroying the balance of hitscan and projectile heroes to this day.
DPS passive continues to be problematic, even in my solace that is the 6v6 test.
The only change that is even close to as terrible is the Kaiju Patch, which was a direct consequence of it.
No patch ever generated more community outrage than this one. You might think that people hated Brigitte more, but only because you didn’t see the Mercy and D.Va megathreads. Plural - because each one hit the forum’s post limit.
Nothing Blizzard has ever done with Overwatch has generated more outrage than this patch. Cancelling PVE may have been the closest they’ve come, but I still think this patch tops it.
If there’s a ‘patch that killed Overwatch 1’, it’s this one. It’ll be interesting to see how this season’s Classic mode plays out, because it’ll be based on this patch (or at least a patch from this era).

no pve, no content, simple, ow2 was made for this, everything on this list are the bare minimum of content a live service game gets, or things ow1 already had, some are recycled things from pve and 2cp and patches and skins arent content, specially very bad patches
Yeah i only played last minute since I kept seeing players on the gameboard with their sweet Drive sigs. It was too little too late thou…Im hoping to earn one next round
These are the only ones that really count, as they aren’t cosmetics and/or temporary game modes. All of the changes to individual heroes, along with the S9 patch, could be consolidated into one big point “Various balance changes”.
Not that much for a full year, and the biggest points that should be on the list, didn’t happen.
Anything cosmetic can just be erased from the list. Most of the new game modes were recycled trash. Most reworks shouldn’t have had to happen if they had just not wasted time on RQ and 5v5. The new clash mode is trash. BP getting coins but not enough to buy the next one or a single skin or even an emote is laughable. S9 changes are the worst changes the game received to date, you forgot to mention that they made the character hit boxes the size of Jupiter so now people think they’re better than they are, when they’re 100% still trash at the game. Jade weapons are bad. Drives are bad. Pink Mercy didn’t need to return to run the same charity event(therefore this is still bad).
