Up to today, when I updated the NVIDIA drivers to 522.25, I had no issues with FPS. OW2 was able to easily maintain 144hz with graphics settings fully maxed out at Ultra @1440p. The only think that changed was the NVDIA driver update I did this morning to 522.25. Now OW2 struggles to maintain 20+fps at 1440p Ultra settings and when I change them to low, I get between 50-90 fps… still quite a bit lower than the 144 I had on ultra previously.
I’m experiencing similar issues but did also notice there was a 40mb update to the game along with upgrading my drivers.
Ryzen 2700x
3080 FE
16GB Ram 3200mhz
MSI Gaming Plus X470
Samsung 970 nvme
Win 11 21H2
I’ve since tried reverting to 517.48 but still 30fps at 4k when I’m usually getting the full 120fps locked (high settings no resolution scaling).
I have also tried resetting all OW2 option in case there was a config error but the issue persists.
When loading into the game its 120fps for a moment, then drops to 20fps when the genji background home screen loads. It then fluctuates in the menus and stays at 29-30fps in the training area.
Ahh, I didn’t notice that small OW2 patch download either. Maybe it was a coincidence of two things happening at once (one of them I wasn’t aware had changed).
I haven’t tried a driver roll back yet since the driver update did improve a couple other games I play.
Confirmed… Driver rollback fixed it for me. Rolled my NVDIA driver back to 517.48 from 522.25 and that fixed the FPS issues. I’m getting 144+fps again @ 1440p on my 3080 using Epic settings.
I’ve just had this issue this morning. 9900k, 3090 FE. Overwatch 2 frame rate tanked to 20fps and every other game too + any benchmark (superposition 1080 extreme running at 6fps lol)
I have Mai afterburner installed and found that 522.25 lowered the power limit and thermal limit of the card to the minimum value. I reset the values back to max and everything is running fine again.
