Here is a simple yet very efficient solution to fix the queue time
Many players like myself like to flex and play all classes (Tank / healr / dps) but when it comes to dps queues are simply ridiculous…
What if players playing different roles were given a priority when choosing a role?
This would push people to play different roles and thus less players overloading queues for a single role. Maybe some who play only a single role would find a new interest in another role that never really considered before.
It has become very aggravating to be only able to play tank and healer to get decent queue time when half the hero pool are dps hero.
Blizzard could also experiment with role comp by creating an arcade mode that would change every week with different role comp instead of 2-2-2. This would also give a break from the 2-2-2 which can get boring sometimes

Priority queues punish other players. That should not happen.
Don’t want to play other roles don’t queue up as them and wait your turn in the queue for your favorite role.

Incentives aren’t inherently a bad thing.

FYI i’ve seen queue for healers getting pretty high as well and leaving me playing tank non-stop. This is by far the best way to create balanced queues for everyone
except for those that get bumped out because of your priority queuing and I’m a Tank player btw (D’Va).
Priority for you is longer wait for someone else due to waiting for you making the only way to play DPS is to play other roles you don’t want to play first.
You are asking to be able to bump someone waiting and not playing as a reward for you being able to play.
Actually it’s a D.va onetrick that doesn’t want their queue time going up.
Even if that means preventing the game from dying.
In theory, there would be more people rdy to play other roles to get better queues than people who only play lets say a single role. Overall queues would just be equal so abut 5min er role instead of 2min tank, 5min+ dps and 3min healer.
You can see it as all queues being about the same for everyone
D’Va one trick that doesn’t feel that one player should have priority over another. Just because you choose to play other roles should not give you priority over another player that chooses not and is waiting to play instead of playing.
Cant feel any sympathy for crappy one tricks that can only play 1 thing or role if they get punished by priority queues.
well as it won’t punish me at all (tanks will always be needed) I don’t understand your response.
That being said even if someone plays 16 different DPS heroes and plays them all well they would be punished by this horrible idea.
There is no good that can come from having one player be considered higher priority than another in a queue system.
Want shorter queues than the DPS queues ? find a way to get more people that want to play tank or support playing those roles.

they already are as more and more support players stop playing, waited over 5 minutes last night and this morning.
Queue times go up and down that’s the nature of a queue.
No they are not getting any higher. tank queue is the only thing that stayed at 2min flat for ever. dps have been going from 5 to 10min and healer from 3 to 9min in some rare cases.
The whole point is to create diversity among players which can only be healthy for an online game
so you are saying the timer in game was lying about how long I waited or that I’m lying that it was over 5 mins last night and this morning ?
I distinctly remember that being the case (lost two games last night, won one this morning).
But guess what. still in no way makes one player more important than other which is what you want is to be judged to be better and more important than another player.
I guess if somebody that can play the entire dps cast well and never once complains about queue time, yea that guy will be a special case where it feels unfair to him. But be honest, even if such a person exists, theres prob only a handfew of them.
Forcing ppl into having to play and win on other roles via priority queue or another method will in the long run shorten the dps queue times and be better for the game in general. But most ppl will not like it and whine because they are forced to get out of their comfort zone and having to learn and play another role.
Oh how fun it would be to have more tanks and/or supports that doesn’t want to play that role and are in it to shorten their dps queue.
And the fact that the only way they can play DPS without being bumped out by those that do is to do that.
Seeing how many players who queue dps cant play it properly and no matter what people still throw qp games because its qp, it won’t affect really anything. The game can only get healthier from players expanding out of their comfort zone, as Bunnie mentionned above.
The are 2 types of people looking at tis whole post, those who understand it and those who think it is punishing 1 trick players. The only way to see this is a mean to keep the player database and reward players who are willing to get out of their comfort zone to make the game viable for everyone.
Just as an exemple, if everyone was playing the same role no matter which one, the whole role queue system woud have broken the game as if everyone queue for 1 role nobody is filling the 2 other roles thus no game for anyone.
Anyway, call me a heretic or whatever but i am suggesting an improvement to get queues in general to get more stable and in the long run lowered.
Remember when role queue wasnt there yet, how fast it would take to find a game in general? less than 2min was average while above 2min was considered a long queue… What a freaking joke now looking at queues of 2min being the bare minimum. Population didnt suddently decrease just very much concentrated in the same roles
A Better fix would be to have as many hero in each roles to make it more appealing to players to chose any of them

Anyway priority queue is a bad idea, not because it’ll harm one tricks but some people like to play only one role and people would feel obligated to play Support and Tank to get an advantage. People already is whining because of role queue, imagine being obligated to play those two roles to get a advantage just because you’re a DPS player like half of the community of Overwatch and can’t wait.
I think the way to handle this is just the community learn how to flex more so the role queue get balanced waiting times, but since everybody wants to shoot and kill, well nothing can be done.
Why should anyone care for 1 tricks?
If it was only for the flex players like myself, we would be seeing approximately the same queue time for all roles.
Before queue system we would be able to play whatever we want yet we are already being obligated into playing roles and not being able to flex within a match (for exemple you could switch to another hero for a role that isnt being properly done/filled). i’ve been sitting on this for weeks and thinking about all possible angles and the game is only going to die slowly if queues dont get fix which by it self cant be done unless players decide by themselves to play different roles. What is the harm of simply giving it a little push, without forcing but simply slightly rewarding for it?
