Obviously could be very wrong but I think closed beta access begins sometime in April 25-28. Open beta begins on May 5th when OWL starts and people can gain beta access from watching OWL matches. Does this seems likely to you?
Not too certain about this, as you can currently sign up now: Overwatch 2
However they are more likely to pick you for your game time and PC specs. At least that was my experince in HALO 4âs MCC Beta.
Doesnât seem likely. They specifically said the open beta was âlater on in the yearâ So that to me sounds like fall or winter
This is the closed beta, which is a select few getting in, and being required to provide feedback
which is different from the open beta âlater on in the yearâ where anyone who wants to, can play basically, and you arenât expected to give feedback officially
Sincerely doubt it.
Aaron specifically said 'weâre planning the public beta later this year. This tells me two things:
- they donât have a date set yet
- he didnât say âa couple of monthsâ but âlater this yearâ
Understand people like Aaron are very deliberate with the words they use⌠![]()
Ah ok, I misread it as the closed beta.
Iâm expecting⌠late Q2 or Q3 release this year.
Latest being August
Earliest being in June - July
This part is very unlikely as they specified there will be multiple beta test phases. Also remember, Open Beta for Overwatch 1 was only 3 days long (4 if you pre-ordered the game).
Closed beta: End of April.
First open beta: Early summer 2022 (June).
Second open beta: Late summer (August-September)
Game launch: Holiday 2022 (Late November)
[She slaps $20 on the table]
Thatâs my bet.
Something thatâs been bothering me is that Aaron never mentioned open beta. The specific wording is ââŚadditional public beta testing later in the yearâŚâ which might imply more closed beta tests.
I donât really think so tbqh.
like usually one does open beta to sort of network test whether the game can handle higher population playing and to get a larger scope of feedback on how things are.
and considering that the closed beta test is where only a few hero reworks are being tested + sojourn and a few new maps, I donât think thatâs enough content (even for a gradual release schedule) to really release with to necessarily warrant an open beta test that early. like Iâd imagine add a like 2~3 more heroes on top of that before going for a release which Iâd imagine they should do in a closed beta test before an open beta test tbqh.
Theyâre also testing a new engine, and most likely other stuff theyâre not telling us about such as netcode and servers.
They said they would communicate more, but I wouldnât hold my breath.
exactly. I defs think Gundam Evolution comes out earlier than OW2 and probs going to steal some of the playerbase away (one of them might be me
)
they have all but confirmed no 2022 launch? i think this time next year launch.
So does playing on a gaming LAPTOP make me more likely since most people are on gaming PCs?!?! SWEET (if thats the case).
I donât think weâre getting an open beta until late this year. I donât think their servers would be ready for the massive amount of players trying to get in so soon.
Iâll just predict the beta will be closed for the owl, and then re opened with new heroes and maps the day after
Have they? I dunno, sounds to me like they just didnât want to have absolutely nothing to show for another 6 months, and if theyâre already comfortable cutting the game into pieces, that tells me theyâd be comfortable releasing an unfinished product and then releasing the extra pieces every few months as ânew contentâ when really theyâre just cleaning up and polishing content that was meant or be released as part of the initial launch. ![]()
My prediction is the first beta is only live for a week or so and will cut off before OW2. Then maybe you can get access to the next phase by watching OWL (or at least having a better shot to get access by watching OWL - it will not be the only way).
