Beta Moira Changes

Well now that Moira has lost her damage orb, surely her purple beam is going to get a damage increase right? Oh and her Ult cost will get reduced too right? Cuz Damage orb is gone, heal orb does 16.7% less healing AND has a 25% longer cooldown.

Surely Moira will get some buffs right? :pray:

The new ability is a straight up buff to moira, I’m kinda already theory crafting all the beat stuff you can do with it now it gives her so much more utility

Yeah sure the new ability is cool, but I really don’t think it justifies like 6 nerfs for its inclusion

I feel like ive been nerfed so much with this new change. I was running 30-50 kill games withs till 15k+ healing before this nerf…

Well Moira kills enemies 2x slower (if ya ignore the 50 damage from the necro orb)

But enemies kill her back 4x slower.

So that duel would still be in her favor.

You also have to remember her new orb still deals 50 damage.

So her kill-time is still around 3-4 seconds, which is conveniently the duration of the 75% damage reduction.

She is going to be SO much fun to fight against, bonus points if you don’t play a hero with a hard escape.

Heh, also Moira could throw both orbs and be nigh unkillable by the enemy player.

Don’t say that. God it’s going to be horrible.

She is definitely going to be fun to play though, shutting down anyone she fights against and probably out-dueling basically any squishy hero with minimal skill.

I’m just glad I don’t play Genji.

Pretty much every Earthshatter Rein does is gonna play like he’s whacking people with a foam pool noodle.

On paper it sounds neat. In play this change isn’t as fun as I hoped. You have a 16 second skill shot, and then you heal for a while. You can’t burst down enemies and there’s fewer ways to charge your ult. She’s almost a purely defensive support now.

Rein? Just think of Roadhog.

His literal existence relies on him dealing damage. Tanks are just going to be bullied so much to a silly extent.

Between anti-heal and damage reduction I simply can’t see how tanking is going to be fun. The devs are just replacing stuns with other BS frustrating mechanics that specifcally punish the heroes that are designed to absorb it all. The tank.

Well maybe the Tanks will get that -50% AntiDebuff passive.

Maybe but I see so many other issues on the horizon.

A passive like that I feel is needed but then is makes tanks even more important and fundamental to the outcome of a game.

We could end up in a position were COMP is just a tanks climb up the ladder and you are just there for the ride.

My only gripe with moira is pretty much her right click only now. I like her new healing animation in OW2, I’m liking her mobility, and I’m liking her new utility so far.

Her damage orb was never that “fun” for me to begin with, but it was still much more interactive than just holding right click on enemies. And losing the damage orb means moira does even less damage now. If moira could deal damage in a more fun way, I would probably play her more. But it’s good to see moira slowly becoming more and more fun to use with every rework she gets.

Although this new ability looks interesting, flanking as moira probably has become less fun now with the loss of damage orb.

They should have at least increased her beam damage. I feel robbed of solo killing dps with orb.

I figure if an AntiDebuff passive makes Tanks too durable, then they could lower their health a bit.

It’s a cool ability and all but a 16s cooldown. Ouch. I think I’d prefer a lower percentage for a lower cooldown.

Still, in the first game I had, I neutered a Reaper Blossom. That was neat. It’s going to take me time to unlearn orbs sharing the same cooldown though. Stoopid muscle memory.

i actually love this direction from a lore perspective. she’s supposed to be built up as this antithesis to mercy. a chaotic and unreliable but beefy healing method vs a calmer and easier, albeit weaker healing beam. healing via genetic experimentation vs ethical healing via traditional methods.

so in that same vein, having a damage weakening ability to be the opposite to mercy’s damage boosting ability makes me very happy.

in execution, im sure things can be tuned until she feels right but as a concept i love it.

I agree but it feels like an impossible balancing nightmare, it is always going to be something else.

I am already becoming disillusioned with 5v5. I am the target audience for it. In theory it should massively improve queue time but in reality they will still be fairly long and probably unbearably so for the tanks.

I also have lost total faith in the Overwatch balance team. I just don’t think they are capable of making it work.
