⭐️ Best Sigma Combos (In-depth Guide To Sigma)

INTRODUCTION:
IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A CERTAIN HERO ON THIS LIST AND THEY DON’T APPEAR IT’S PROBABLY BECAUSE THEY AREN’T WORTH NOTING AGAINST SIGMA. OTHERWISE ALL HEROES MENTIONED ARE IN BOLD.
Note that this post is only for counters to Sigma and heroes sigma is strong against as well as his best combos for tanks. In case you have no clue what I’m talking about, tanks typically have a combo with each other. For example, Reinhardt and Zarya are a combo because they can both stay low to the ground and Zaryas bubble can poke through Reinhardts barrier, Hog and Orisa have their pull combo, and D.va and Winston can take high ground easily and focus down a single target.
WHY I CAN TALK ABOUT SIGMA AND GIVE ADVICE
Before I get into the best combos with Sigma, let me explain why I have the authority to talk about him. Over the span of three different accounts which are played at a mediocre and try hard level, I have played said hero for almost the entirety of his release (Thanks to some friends who didn’t mind me playing him in our 6 stack). I have learned his do’s and don’ts. Also I have played across almost all ranks on different accounts, have been to Top 300, and have accounts as low as platinum (Not throwing accounts, just casual play accounts with purpose of testing).
THE TIER LIST
So this tank list is separated into three classes, the “Just Don’t”, the “Ehhh Ok” and the “Best Combo”. Before I get into it I’d like to say that Sigma can be played as an off tank or a main tank. A main tank is a hero who can create space and engage fights for your team (Winston diving, Reinhardt walking forward with his barrier, and Orisa with her barrier). Sigma can engage fights by pushing his barrier up but the closer your barrier is to the enemy the more damage it’ll take and the faster it’ll go down. He can also be used as a supporting or off tank to aid another main tank you have. It all depends on how you play. Anyways lets get into that list.
JUST DONT
-D.va & Winston: These are probably the worst two tanks to combo Sigma with and it’s not hard to see why. Both these heroes were designed with movement abilities to tank high ground and dive certain targets. All Sigma would be able to aid them with it pushing a barrier to where they are gonna dive, if even possible. I would not recommend playing Sigma with either of these tanks.
-Hammond: Hammond is the same as the other two, but he can be slightly better simply because he can push the enemy into your weapon range. Besides that Sigma can’t follow up on his pile drive and can’t really support Hammond.
EHHHH OK
- Roadhog: Running Roadhog with Sigma would be like running Roadhog with Reinhardt. It’s not the worst combo you can do, but there are definitely better choices. The one thing about this combo that does stand out is that Roadhog can pull enemies into Sigmas line of fire. But otherwise you’d be better off going Orisa with hog.
-Reinhardt: So Reinhardt and Sigma do complement each other decently well. Rein can charge and Sigmas barrier can follow him but it won’t do much good for Rein once he’s done charging. Once Reinhardts barrier is destroyed, having Sigma as a back up barrier is a good thing but just like Roadhog, you may be better off running a Zarya over Sigma.
-Zarya: Zarya is probably the second strongest combo you can have with Sigma. Sigma has such a big hit box that a Zarya could get a lot of charge off of him. Main problem is, Sigma would need to peak in order to get that charge for Zarya because a bubble on Sigma wouldn’t poke through his shield as a Reinhardts would. But otherwise running a Sigma and Zarya is decent but I still think you’d rather have a Zarya Reinhardt over that.
BEST COMBO
-Orisa: Lastly and sadly to say, the horse is probably the best combo (At least with the current meta). As of right now, probably one of the strongest comps is Orisa Hog simply because of the pull/hook combo. Sigma can completely negate this. Once Orisa places her shield down, a Sigma can place his shield above her’s, to protect against the pull hook combo. Sigma can also “eat” Orisas pull (If she doesn’t stop it before it gets eaten). Also considering Sigmas primary fire does AOE damage, a pull together could probably get him a lot of ult charge. Also in practice this is the comp me and my friends won with the most. It’s like bunker with even more cancer (sorry to say).

Now when it comes to ult combos, that’s a different story. But with the recent ult charge changes and the fact you may want a solid team comp over ultimate combos, I don’t recommend following this list.
BEST COMBOS (ULT).
-D.va: Launch bomb up and use Sigma ult to make enemy team vulnerable to bomb.
-Reinhardt: You can shatter when they all get slammed down, or use Sigma ult when they are already shattered.
-Zarya: Launch them up and then grav or grav and get them even lower after grav.
-Hammond: Honest the easiest to pull off. Lift up with Sigma, and them place Hammond mines below, they will take the damage from falling and Hammond mines.
WORST (ULT).
-Winston: Pushes enemies away and makes it hard for Sigma to get his ult off.
-Roadhog: Same reason as Winston.
-Orisa: As far as I believe, any damage amp doesn’t affect Sigmas ult.

SOME NOTES AND OTHER COMBOS/COUNTERS.

COUNTERS TO SIGMA
First off Sigmas biggest counters are Doomfist, and Sombra. Both can completely stun Sigma out of his abilities and are hard to Sigma. Any long range hit scan hero should be able to do a decent job against Sigma. It is worth noting that Widowmaker (against my hopes and dreams) is a decent counter to Sigma. Yes you can place a shield right in her face and hope she moves out of position, but when your shield is in her face, it’s not protecting your front line. So unless you have another shield, Widowmaker will still be a problem. Same goes with Hanzo. Reaper will absolutely stomp a Sigma. No shocker there, there isn’t a whole lot a Sigma can do to a Reaper besides use his rock. Sigmas hit box is so big that Reaper can get a lot of healing off him. If Brigette wasn’t a piece of glass this patch, she could probably do a lot of damage to a sigma. Same with Reinhardt, both these heroes can stay alive/have a lot of health and when closing the distance on Sigma, he will damage himself from his primary attack. Tracer will decently well against Sigma. Sigma may have a trouble hitting his shot’s on her, and she can build her ult fast because of his large hit box. Mei is also a big problem to Sigma, she can survive his ult, and freeze through his Kinetic Grasp… Although Sigma can eat Snowball… poor Snowball.

WHO SIGMA COUNTERS
Large damage dealers such as Pharah and Junkrat lose out on this one. Well they can destroy Sigmas barrier with ease, his Kinetic Grasp (eat) can turn all that damage into shields. Also it would take quite a few shots from either of these heroes to kill him. Now Bastion is a middle man to Sigma, I’m only putting him here because well Sigma can’t really kill Bastion, he can provide some aid to the cancer that is bunker comp. Putting a shield in front of Bastion should give your team some time to make a move. Also being able to eat his bullets should get you a lot of shields.

COMBOS.
Best sigma combo is hitting a target with your rock, then hitting them with both your hyperspheres. This will do enough damage to kill a 200 health hero. Reason you want to hit the rock first is because it’s harder to hit and it makes hitting your hyperspheres easier.
Mccree ult and Sigma ult. a Mccree can easily deadeye your Sigmas ult or the enemy Mccree can deadeye you when you’re using your ult.
Sigma ult can be comboed with any other ult that takes a while to get off such as, D.va bomb, Rip Tire, Mei’s Ult, Torb Ult, Doomfist Ult, and Tactical Visor.

THANK YOU FOR READING, HERE ARE SOME FINAL NOTES!
I don’t think Sigma is gonna be an incredibly powerful hero and is sadly probably gonna fall under the Hammond category of tanks which is “Really good, but doesn’t have much to complement it’s strengths”. If I had to guess some balance changes to him it would be making his shield bigger or have more health. Thank you for reading this and I hope you learned from it. I’ve been playing Sigma ever since release and I’d like to go take a nap now (almost 24+ hours).

What does this mean? I think Hammond is extremely good in the right hands and feel like sigma will probably be the same with 1 or 2 tweaks. Both have high skill floors which is great imo.

Im personally looking forward to testing Sigma out with Zarya, Dva and maybe Hammond although Orisa does seem the strongest partner atm

Hammond is a very strong hero, the problem is, he doesn’t have a solid combo to run with him. Well Hammond can provide a lot for your team, if you have a Zarya Hammond, you’d probably be better off running Zarya Reinhardt because both of those tanks con compliment each other well. A Zarya can bubble a Hammond and get ult charge, but a Zarya can also bubble a Reinhardt and get charge through his barrier well getting shielded and sticking together. Basically what I’m trying to say is that Reinhardt has Zarya, Orisa has Roadhog, and Winston has D.va. Hammond however doesn’t have a tank that he full fits with, and Sigma I believe doesn’t either.

Don’t come to these forums to learn about hero viability or potential

Who you gonna go to then? The pros? Stylosa? With all do respect, I’ve played this hero longer than Stylosa and I have played with pros learning the hero along with them. What I’ve said is also coming from other players throughout different skill levels. This isn’t some random forum made for attention, it’s the best advice on the hero so far and the winning combos for right now.

Not to mention half the things mentioned above are just logic. You don’t run a dive tank with a Reinhardt like character.

Molten Core combos phenomenally with Gravitic Flux. 50% max health damage into a pool of death waiting below.

As mentioned above.

I get u. Seems like theyre maybe moving away from these really strong synergies in favour of more diverse partnerships

I was really hoping Sigma or the new tank would combo well with Hammond. But sadly it was not to be.

Well, I would say that they combo quite well, just not as well as we expected

They play differently, its worse then hog sigma, as sigma likes to poke on high ground and hog has good shield break. Sigma cannot brawl and his whole kit is very self sufficient. A good sigma will always be cycling defensive cooldowns so you just inteeruppt them as zarya. You guys are also terrible against dive tanks so their is no synergy.

Orisa has pull and the pick up from sigmas ult still gets amplified, do you even play sigma?

1 year later. :hourglass:

Keep in mind this post was made over a year ago and back then sigma didn’t have to cycle through his abilities like he does now. He could place his 1600 health shield and sit comfortably behind it and poke out when he got bubbled, also using that opportunity to push up. And yes, sigmas ult can be damaged amped, but back then we weren’t testing in the workshop, we were playing pugs and quick play.

oh alright my bad this is old

It’s allllllll gooood ma G
