So, What heroes do you like to damage boost most? and what ults do you like to damage boost/ what ults are better damage boosted than other ults?
Pls damage boost Hog. I do not need your filthy heals. Mercy always pocket me for some reason… probably the lowest possible value you could achieve. But if you bass boost my meat hook, now we are cooking human flesh!
Damage boosting Ashe leads to nice success, and damage boosting barrage, aimbot, and most other DPS ults are good damage boost targets as well
dmg boost hog hook for a one-hit kill. ashe, pharah, mccree, dva, winston, brig, sym… just because if they play right, they can wreck the enemy team.
i also like to boost rein when he’s swinging in a zarya grav. i boost genji’s ult as well as soldier’s if he’s not being blocked by shields lmao.
id say it can be worthwhile depending on ur current hp, and how close she is to valk, = aoe dmg boost

Anyone hitting their shots, really - but I find Hog and Rein to be particularly fun.

first characters you should look at, the beam characters, no spread 100% death, after the beam heroes go for the aoe attack heroes, your junkrats pharahs, winston and rein when they’re in range, after that your mid range hitscans like cree ashe and soldier, some of the projectile heroes like hanzo or torb, if all other options gone just focus on using damage boost on people who are lacking a bit in their ult charge compared to the rest of the team or an allies with important ults like dragon blade or emp
Im not including what should be the obvious like a hog when he hooks someone or a genji who’s dragonblading soldier when ulting etc etc
Nah, that’s the best time to boost him.
I damage boost cooldowns if I see them (helix, firestrike, storm arrows) or if I see someone in a good position for their hero to do damage (Reaper just got up close to some tanks, hitscans are about to break shield etc.). IMO if you only damage boost one person all game then you are only getting half of the value you could be getting.
Know from whom your ally is taking damage.
If there’s a chance of them finishing off the enemy instantly with Boost when they could not otherwise, assuming equally good or poor aim from both said ally and their attacker, and a further attack interval’s worth of healing will not save them, it’s better to Boost.
Also, know your teammate’s CDs. If an enemy drops to <65 HP and you have a Genji who hasn’t Dashed in the last 8 seconds, boost him for the free kill. (In general if he goes into position to RMB spam, boost him whenever you have time.) Count down the 6 seconds between Firestrikes and have Boost up on Rein the moment it’s ready again and he has enemies lined up.
Note the cadence of spam heroes. Sigma fires every 1.5 seconds. Hanzo optimally fires every 1.25 seconds. Pharah fires every .75 seconds. Ashe scoped-fired every .7 seconds. Hog fires every .7 seconds. Junk fires every .67 seconds. Torb fires per .6 seconds. When they’re wounded, boost the moment their shots come off their internal cooldown, while healing in between those shots. That’s literally 100% of damage boosted while still doing 80+% of your maximum healing potential.
Finally, if you’re taking up opportunities in which Reaper could have gotten two kills with Boost instead of none to keep a Hog alive when you could rez him after a team fight, you’re doing something wrong.
As for which ults to Boost — whichever make a threshold of difference (Dragonblade; Configuration: Tank against 250-HP targets), are fired as a single initial projectile (Graviton Surge, though you’ll have to be holding it on Zarya when she hits Q), need only be boosted for a brief moment among the whole ultimate (Gravitic Flux, just before the enemies’ descent, iirc) or just deal absolute tons of damage (Whole Hog, Barrage, etc.).
Heroes/ults I love damage boosting (in alphabetical order):
Ashe (just about anything she does, including Bob).
Bastion (assuming you’re playing one of the rare games where you have one).
Dva (when she’s trying to get into Mech form, or when she dives a healer).
Echo (just about anything she does, but especially the laser).
Genji (mostly the ult, but also making sure that he gets the ult quicker).
Hanzo.
Junkrat.
McCree.
Reaper (mostly the ult).
Reinhardt (when he firestrikes, ults, or is swinging into a group).
Roadhog (hooks and ult).
Sigma (ult)
Soldier (especially ult, but it’s all good).
Symmetra (especially when at full charge)
Winston (especially when cleaving, or on supports, not so much when ulting).
Wrecking ball (when slamming).
Zarya (when at high energy).
Zenyatta.
Heroes I’m ambivalent about damage boosting.
Doomfist (I know that it helps him, but it can often put me in danger, it can take too long to follow him on adventures, and sometimes he meteor strikes and leaves me stranded).
Mei (unless she’s an amazing right click sniper. It’s usually much more helpful to take out the pistol and help her finish off frozen targets.)
Orisa (the damage is high, but there almost always seems to be something better to do).
Pharah (I know, I know. She’s a great damage boost target. But sometimes Pharahs can get so very needy, and I’m not ready for that level of commitment to them).
Torb (his damage is great, but it can sometimes be a bit inconsistent).
Widowmaker (Widow’s damage is pretty sporadic. Even when she’s great, it’s hard to predict when she’ll get shots in, and damage boosting her isn’t always the best use of my time. I will always make sure to protect her from dives though).
Tracer (same problems as Doomfist, except magnified.)
The rest of the cast doesn’t usually get my damage boost.
Ashes, Hog, bastion, and especially solider
not necessarily an ult, but if you have a symmetra on full charge, POCKET HER.
she deals 180 damage per second, and the damage boost makes her able to melt a tank in less than 3 seconds.
if she’s not on tier 3, don’t bother.
I found boosting heroes for a very short time when they are using their abilities super useful.
Every 6 seconds, your Rein will be looking to get out a fire strike. You should be boosting that.
Ashe likes to dynamite, that deserves a boost.
Hog when he hooks? if you boost, then he will confirm that hook for sure.
If you are in the air with Pharah, you can time tapping your damage in time with her firing.
like… the secret with boosting is that 2 seconds of boost or 1/10 of a second of boost USUALLY gives you the same results. if you can get your timing right.
Zarya too, for the same reasons - more so, you NEED to keep your Zarya alive, so, when they are cooking someone, boost so they cook faster, if they are just moving, then heal to keep them up.
I LOVE boosting Genji ults - I know it sounds dangerous, but, the extra value is worth it.
Who I DB really depend on any given match. Whomever is popping off or just doing well will get the DB most often.
Ults I try to DB anytime I can: Pharah (or heal), Soldier, Reaper, Sigma, McCree, Moira, Echo, Bob, Genji, Hog.
Also, always DB your baby D.Va to help her get back into mech as soon as possible.

The reason why i heal ulting hogs is because they are unable to heal during it. Even when the enemy hog is ulting i shout to my team FOCUS HOG, HE CANT HEAL. But yea, a good mercy would time a hogs hook and damage boost them. Same goes for rein firestrike, ashe’s dynamite, soldiers blue bullets (dont know what they’re called), prob brigs whipshot (4 sec cooldown so maybe… maybe not but you know), and maybe others i cant think up top of my head…
