Best Counter for Phara?
Hitscan.
For us since we both play Torb, put your turret in a spot where she’ll fly out of to make it an anti air turret. It won’t survive long, but if your team is attentive enough it’ll also act as an alarm.
Also forgot primary fire just alt fire her and treat your gun like a flack cannon. It’ll do minimal damage? But at least you’re applying some much needed assistance towards Pharah.
Bastion is a good one if you need Antiair capabilities as his assault form can really force her out and he’s just hitscan in general. The biggest issue here is who gets who first and who plays the cover game better.
If the Pharah is pocketed the situation changes drastically. Damage boosted Pharah is dangerous to any lone hero. So Mercy then becomes the priority.
Mccree and S76 are great choices, but are still limited on their ranges which requires more mechanical skill outside of just shooting good. Just try to get more value with Deadeye and Visor then just the Pharah as a solo kill.
I’m just a scrub, so take all of this with a pinch of salt.
My first port of call is usually to go after (or at least put pressure on) the non-Mercy support; Mercy is either forced back to prop up her co-support and tank, or she has to commit to the Pharah pocket and hope that blue team crumples before red team’s does.
If that doesn’t work, I go Bap or Illari as support if I’m not already.
S76 is my hitscan DPS of choice because I don’t trust my team to back me up in any way, but honestly, I think Ashe is better at it due to having punchier damage per hit which is more effective at putting the fear of God into the Pharmercy.
As tank I’m supposed to go D.Va if I want to directly contest Pharmercy but I’m pretty sure I’d be an awful D.Va. I haven’t played her for any length of time for… years, probably? Until recently I’ve had to suck it up if I’m on tank and Pharmercy’s running wild, but now there’s a hitscan tank avilable that’s not as true. I’ve only broken out Mauga once and it was because my S76 and Cassidy were going 1-5 and 4-7 (elims-deaths) after the first round of Nepal, and being able to shoot down the clay pigeons myself in rounds two and three made all the difference in the world.
Torb is probably the worst counter for pharah. Pharah will easily pop out and pick off any turret.
This, however, will destroy pharah. Any of them work
Widowmaker has the best way to deal with a pharah/mercy combo since you can bypass the healing for large shots. Weakness is you move so slowly that if Pharah gets close you are likely dead due to being easy to dive bomb at close range.
Ashe has less range, but is more flexible. You can get to high advantage points or vault off the ground with coach gun to avoid easy shots against you briefly. Less mov speed penalty . A little harder to dive bomb close range. Bob is always insanely annoying to get anything done. You still have meaty chip damage on headshots.
Cassidy has no sustain. No mobility. Lacks range compared to Widow/Ashe and suffers fall off far more. Probably the worst of the hitscan options.
S76 has a bit of sustain. He cant’ burst, but he can pressure a non-mercy pocket pharah very easily from chip damage keeping her surpressed without actually killing her. Bonus uses for easy to use if you suck at aiming. A bit harder to keep locked down due to his self heal. Can get to high ground spots quickly for vantage.
Ana/Bap/Illari. All hitscan supports. Illari has a bit more freedom to shoot Pharah with pylon healing for her. Easier to keep attention. You can even fly if you want.
Mauga/Dva. Dva can straight up blow up Pharah in the sky, but lack of range to booters limits how often you can do that. Nullified barrage. Mauga can put constant pressure on Pharah with no fall off, fire dot, and volatile gun bumping his DPS up to possibly 144.
Hey a lot of dps aren’t hitscan. We do what we can. That’s horrible design speaking here.
I didn’t say they were. I just said hitscan counters pharah. And all of them do. (this is speaking from a pharah main)
You do realize a lot of hitscans are shooting out of their effective ranges to shoot at you right?
Plus many of them get so tunnel visioned. So it makes those flanks close up so easy.
Mayhaps Torbjorn?
I didn’t say players are good at hitscan, lol. I just said that’s what counters pharah
Hitscan DPS long sightlines
