This happened more than once where people are saying I suck because I’m only diamond and have a silver portrait.
They are basically saying that I have so much time in the game I should be higher than diamond.
Is it really bad to only be diamond with a silver portrait? Should I really have gotten to masters? I can say I don’t know if I can ever hit masters, I don’t think I will ever have that skill.
I have told these people that lets see what rank you will hit when you have a silver portrait because I have been in diamond for quite a while. I don’t think they will easily climb to masters by just playing the game more.

Diamond is still top 10% of the entire player base of Overwatch. Take that in for a minute and then shrug off these silly comments.

I’m pretty sure I’ll be silver tier even 10 years from now when I finally hit gold portrait.
I wouldn’t worry about what others say. Chances are if they’re the sort of people to bash other players based on rank/portraits, then they’re sad, pathetic people who don’t deserve a second thought.

Game has been out for almost 2 years, having a silver portrait is pretty much normal by now.
Also, level literally doesn’t mean anything

Just happened again, someone called me out for being silver portrait and diamond.
The funny thing almost the whole team had 5 stars, one had a silver portrait, and one had a single huge star.
So in a way isn’t he insulting the whole team?
Diamond is not bad.
Gm are the top 1%
After that it’s 3% masters
And then it’s 10% diamond.
Diamond players are still in the top 14% players, that’s nothing to be ashamed about.
People will use anything to trash-talk. I get hit for my silver border despite being Masters.
It’s not that embarrassing of a rank anyways,
Competitive mode is a joke because of how the matchmaker builds teams. The amount of roll or be rolled matches you experience shows not much competition as it is RNG.
People that care about rank label don’t understand the current state of comp. By making fun of you they just show how ignorant they are that the ranks are mostly meaningless until a consistent matchmaker is put in the game.
I have a silver portrait, almost a star with it, and I’m plat. Level=/=skill.
Also, weird thing, noone ever mentions my border when they want to insult me. I’ve also seen quite a big number of gold portraits, and 3 plat portraits at my level (~2700), and noone really cared.

If you’re in bronze after getting to level 601 that’s one thing.
Some people just aren’t very smart.
I’m a plat with a silver portrait. It honestly doesn’t matter.
Unless playing Overwatch is paying my rent and bills, I couldn’t care less what someone else thinks of my rank lol

I went down from plat to silver and have a silver portrait.
I did it on purpose to match colours, yeah right, i was not tilting at all
You don’t climb unless you make a conscious effort to improve. I could play Doomfist and just dive into the enemy team 1v6 for 100 hours, but reinforcing bad habits won’t translate into higher elo.
Level literally only corresponds to play time, and even then it’s skewed because of that double XP event we had last year and group XP bonuses.
They’ll say it even in top 500.
I got it as a Diamond before myself, I get it as a gold-in-gold (gold squared?), got it as silver in bronze, etc. Pretty sure level bullying is every rank, just like rank bullying is everywhere.
I’m plat and silver border now.
Anyone who brings up my rank to demean me is automatically stupid because rank =/= knowledge or skill when I only play 4 hours a season
i’m silver, with silver portrait… i thought thats what we suppose to do…oh well, when i get gold portrait i’ll push to gold, no rush it’s all gud
Rank is a good indicator of skill.
Show me 1 Plat player who is even close to a GM player in terms of skill/gamesense. It won’t happen.
Likewise a plat player would dumpster basically any bronze.
Ranks aren’t imaginary. Especially when the same players are getting top500 season after season. That’s not ‘RNG’, that’s a display of consistent skill.
The only time i saw people at a rank that they really shouldn’t be at was during mercy meta.
tell them to calm down, they’ll be back in plat soon
