I live in Mainland China,
I play overwatch only on console (Swich),
I want to play OW2 on my console.
Chinese Phone number (+86) cannot verify for this OW2 SMS (cuz Chinese blz account is separate from global blz account). Unlike pc, console don’t have the “China only version Overwatch” (run by NetEase) . According to game forums and Weibo, many people have the same issue.
China console players is about 16M and 99.99% of them don’t have a foreign country SMS number. We can’t play this game…

I never thought about that before.
I’ve seen some people speculate that Blizzard might compromise and make the SMS part only for Comp and that definitely gets more likely (IMO) if they risk losing the Chinese market.
That have said that some regions won’t require a phone number verified. I don’t know if that applies to you though. And I don’t think that has been added to the service yet.
That feels like it would be easy to exploit to create smurf accounts if you had the right VPN or something. 
VPN’s are pretty easy to detect. And I’m not sure too many people would want that bad of a ping, lol. But, maybe people will find a way abuse it. I don’t know.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but wouldn’t all they need to do is:
I don’t think Blizzard cares/searches for whether your account’s region and your region match up. I mean, I’m not in the US but I can use the US forums and play on the US servers.

I mean I have no idea. I can tell you though, many websites even can identify when you are using a VPN. It seems unlikely that blizzard would not also be able to do this.
bro, acturally China people had their nerf ow2, run by netease, but you know, they always want a can play with all people around world and bleeding effact(as i know chinsese server dont have it) , and all CN server people hate most of trash Netease, but china policy dont allow them to register other server by them phone number (+86 CANT register in blizzard ( you can try it by yourself )
LMAO. But we could play OW1 though (PC and Console). For the OW2, the “door” is closed by Blizzard the company.
16 million people can’t play. Man, Blizzard is so stupid, sorry that you guys won’t be able to play. Hopefully, they resolve this issue someday.
Blizzard has always been careful in the China market, I would find it extremely odd if they didn’t just wave SMS for them.
To be fair, you’re better off not playing the dumpster fire that is OW 2.
