BattlePasses that don’t expire

Can Blizzard follow in Marvel Rivals footsteps and implement battle passes that don’t expire? I’m so tired of finding a really cool skin for one of my mains only to discover it’s from a battle passes from 8 seasons ago. It’s so lame.

FOMO marketing doesn’t work as I have purchased all of the battle passes in rivals even ones I wasn’t present for. Please Blizzard I just want to play as Fancy Ramattra.

I would rather any game that insists on having battle passes follow in Deep Rock Galactic’s footsteps when it comes to how they’re implemented:

  • They are 100% free
  • They never expire
  • You can choose whichever season’s battle pass you want to progress at any time.

If a battle pass in any game doesn’t fulfil each of those points, then it is garbage not worth anyone’s time, frankly.

You dont have to take one of the two extremes dude. Dont care if you never buy anything, but I would like to keep my bought BPs in OW.

I didn’t say you can’t? I said they shouldn’t ever expire, meaning I think you should get to keep them…

Yeah, I want to get some older battle passes too. Want that Junker Queen Swagger walk and throne highlight.

Hopefully the devs consider this and give us a more player friendly system, I am tired of seeing my main’s skin stuck at the end of a battle pass, because then it feels like I either need to grind nonstop or just skip the season altogether, but hey at least this season the new LW skin was in the first lvl of the battle pass this time

Yeah seems weird to work on animations and skins, but for them to be locked away. There’s also some battle passes I didn’t finish that I would like to be able to. Feels bad to pay for something and I don’t even get all of it…

I would also want them to remove the daily system and introduce the rivals challenge system. To have to log in daily with so many games is annoying. Let us stack up challenges that are easy to complete and then do them when we feel like it. Something like they did to weeklies.

I don’t see why they should remove the already easy dailies, it takes me maybe 2-3 games at most to do all three. While it would be neat if they stacked like weeklies do you don’t need to do them every day to get all you want from the pass up to max (not counting titles), I was temp banned for a portion of last season for rude behaviour but I still got to 80 easily even if I didn’t play every day.

The season typically last for around 7-9 weeks which gives you plenty of time to level up your pass without doing your dailies every day. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Its exactly that you DONT need to log in every day. I want to play something else for a week and not loose out on 7 levels, just because I dont dedicate by time to OW only. Yes, you can complete it without, but its not the point.

Unless your going for level 200 I don’t see why you should worry about 7 levels… They are called ‘Dailies’ for a reason, a small easy reward if you want to play daily, if you don’t want to do them it’s on you, if you are finding it annoying to log into games and do dailies that’s a you problem, not a problem with the dailies. You aren’t forced to do them if you don’t like to, you literally got 7-9 weeks in a season to level up your pass which by itself is very easy just by playing, comp stadium gives a nice chunk of XP for example. So I don’t see why you are so triggered over nothing, you aren’t forced to grind out the pass to 200 unless you want every single title per pass, you aren’t forced to log in every day and do your dailies.

The system works fine, the only problem I see is you complaining over a system that’s very forgiving compared to old weeklies where you were forced to queue for tank for example which not everyone wants to play. We also have events which give a very good of XP. 2.5k for easy challenges is quite nice, Luka event we got now giving a wopping 7.7k is even more nice. But the return of old passes would be nice, since there are some skins I do want from a season I didn’t play.

Does rivals let you buy the bpass at any time? Or does it just not have a time limit to complete? If the latter is true, then the OP still wouldn’t be able to get bpass skins from years ago.

S0 BP came back, but in general its not really common to let people buy old passes. I dont think that it should be included necessarily, but to get to keep BPs you BOUGHT in the past, should be common.

Personally I am fine with either. Just I didn’t think rivals did what the OP wants.

Seriously. I picked up Helldivers 2 around a year after launch. I’ve bought every single warbond (battlepass) in the game.

I dropped off OW2 for a couple of years. There are years worth of content that I would love to pick up. This last season, I easily completed the battlepass and earned most of the prestige ranks. But I would have much rather been able to go back and pick up an old Battlepass after I stopped getting real rewards from the first one.

I’m sure there’s a greed related reason this isn’t the case beyond just fomo. Realistically, I don’t think many of the players who buy the battlepasses now would stop if they knew they could buy them later. If I had to guess, I think they want tight control on mythics, since they sell the prisms at a crazy mark-up. It’s what, $60 to get a complete mythic with bought prisms, compared to $10 via battlepass? Even if they were to say that mythic prisms / skins could only be earned in-season, that would still be better than nothing.

I was under the impression that past battlepass items were being given in the loot boxes now? Or was I imagining getting some past battlepass items from my loot boxes?

It would be nice to be able to progress the previous battlepass items. They could do that like the Mythic thing, where you could choose where to add your battlepass EXP. (for example, if you clear out the first 80 levels, the additional could be allocated to previous passes where you didn’t get to 80)

It would also be nice to see some of the shop items come back periodically (or just remain available if you haven’t bought them yet) rather than keep using FOMO as a tactic instead.

Nothing wrong with having a few exclusives, but at the same time its good for the cosmetics to make sure they remain available in a somewhat reasonable fashion in case someone missed out the first time for whatever reason.

Yeah, sure…
I never had problem to level up my BP. But I just moved to a different place and found out, that internet here is a crap…and I have to stay here for 3 months and than move to another place that needs to get better connection. I already bought BP, cause I was promised better connection here, than I got.
Now what? Next 3 months stuck with BP I might not be able to finish and than maybe another month or two, before we figure out, what´s best for the remote location we are moving in.
That´s like 2 BP…lost possibly? Why? Because players can´t have a real life, if they don´t wanna lose BP cosmetics?
That design sucks. Don´t just assume, that everyone can make it every season, just because you can.

Yea, good luck with that, when I can´t really play now, unless it´s literaly soft throwing with lags I will have next few months.

They need to let us buy old battle passes for real money, my Sistah Spice and I want Kpop Demon Hunter Reaper.

I’ve said it a few times, I’m sure they’ve got a “feature” planned when you unlock a previous season’s BP to progress it along with the current season. They’d just have to modify them a bit, as first couple seasons didn’t have currency or prisms in them and they had mythic skins at the end. I would make a joke that it’s gonna take till season 42 for it to happen, but this progression 2.0 happened relatively soon after lootboxes came back, so maybe there’s a chance it’s gonna happen in the next two years.

That’s what the D2 Necromancer skin is for.

That’s never gonna happen. BPs have kiriko skins and Kiriko skins is what keeps this game alive now.

Like I said, they’ll probably make that a thing where you can unlock a second BP to go along at the same time. Could make it unlimited, so you can farm every season you’ve missed before all at once, but again, it won’t be free.

Yea, FOMO is outdated and it sucks Blizzard is still using it.

Hate getting onto the game and seeing a cool skin but can’t obtain it because it was during a time where I wasn’t playing.
