AndyB mentioned on Super’s stream that “they’re tuning the battlepass to be completable by most players by seasons end, not just grinders [like Super]”
And according to Plat Chat, the pass takes approximately 30 hours to complete. So even if you only play a couple hours a day, you’ll easily be able to complete the pass.
Still don’t agree with keeping heroes in the pass though.
I also wonder if the 30 hour calculation includes the 20 unranked/comp wins weekly quest or if the 30 hours is for your average player who might complete a few weeklies per week at best
I don’t want a job with a deadline. I want a game I can play on my terms and not be manipulated to playing on certain days for certain amounts and enjoy all of.
And yes, I am willing to PAY for all of that at a reasonable rate equally with the rest of the customers.
Press X to doubt. They would have a hard time selling XP boosters or tier skips if it’s only 30 hours. That would mean you could play 15 hours a month and finish it. Not happening.
There’s a reason each tier is 10k XP and those challenges like win 10 games are 5k XP each. You’re going to have to complete 2 of those for 1 tier. That’s going to be impossible if you don’t play this game for hours every day.
Some people are just wanna get the stuff they like immediately. I imagine that people are gonna want Mythic skins on the first day of the seasons. There’s people who might be away from their PC for extended periods because of commitments. People are willing to pay for fast-tracking no matter how long it takes.
More people will not help much if they behave same way as before, and just go dps first.
Its nothing that just happen in OW, in tf2 playing multiple games with no medic in them was a norm.
I saw someone mention that it’s like 10,000xp per tier of the battle pass. And considering on Live right now it’s 20,000xp to level up, then getting to level 80 of the battle pass should be about the same as getting 40 levels on live
Personally, I don’t think the issue is whether or not it’s completable. I have no doubts that most people can do the achievements and unlock heroes, eventually. The question is, how long does it take, and will the time between unlocking the hero and the hero’s competitive availability cause a disadvantage or other problems in competitive?
Would the majority of players who may play casually and infrequently, a portion not willing to spend for the hero, yet still play competitive, cause an issue down the line in the future? This game has millions of players. Even if it affects only a small percentage of players, that could tarnish hundreds of thousands of people’s gaming experiences.
I also have no doubts that some people just don’t want to pay or grind at all for anything. But I think that is being lumped together with concerns about game fairness in the competitive realm is a bit unreasonable.
