Bastion's Problems and Possible Fixes

Why? The only other ability he has available that doesn’t just turn off the minitank is his healing but that means he’s not shooting.

That was because nano and ironclad stacked so nano + 35% ironclad was 85% damage resist and he was face tanking nukes with health to spare.

they capped damage resist at 50 so that wouldn’t work anymore.

Well then, what would you suggest be his Ultimate then?

So? That was just one example of a game-breaking ability. There is still quite a risk, especially depending on his Ultimate.

Read the next suggestion immediately after the tank thing, It basically buffs any mode he’s currently in. It turns the minitank into the tank we have now (205 instead of 120, stuff like that) sentry gets cc immunity, and recon gets faster movement.

basically it doubles down on their most obvious trait. (tank has burst, sentry has immovability, and recon is mobile.)

If he had the directional ironclad thing it wouldn’t have to supply any extra survivability.

Oops. Thanks for pointing that out.

So effectively you get a longer version of the current Ultimate plus other power? That is a bit risky. However, these sorts of buffs to the other forms aren’t too bad. Might work, but still be cautious.

The risk with this is that he would be pretty vulnerable to flankers (he currently is, but he is still pretty vulnerable anyway). This wouldn’t be too much of a problem except that dive is pretty powerful, such as Tracer, which means that this wouldn’t help much. Plus, since your other suggested changes reduce teamwork synergy, this may not work the best. Maybe reverse the Ironclad protection directions? This would basically mean that players can either flank and take longer to kill (bar the headshot box) or attack from the front but run the risk of being melted. May not work, but he would need SOMETHING unless the meta changes (it may, but it doesn’t seem THAT likely for now).

that’s the point. He needs a weakness to particular heroes or people will lose their minds. Not that they won’t, but the reasonable ones might see it.

Another way of doing it would be 35% front, 30% top and sides, and 25% back. He’s a little more protected from the rear and the front/sides.

The idea is he’s supposed to be weak to flankers. Most dive heroes are the ones that just get in your face really fast but don’t really flank (Genji and Tracer are exceptions but they’re slowly being pushed out of the meta) meaning you will for the most part always be facing the enemy while not being invincible.

Genji: Yup, he is definitely being pushed out of the meta

Tracer: She is still a problem at the upper ranks (which is probably due partly to her (not enough power at low ranks and too much at high ranks) and partly to lack of counters (Brigitte does NOT count; she currently makes almost anyone weak)).

And plus, a LOT of Heroes at the moment are weak to flankers. And Bastion will be especially vulnerable as he is designed to be played more separately from the rest of the team, as such discouraging teamwork (and thus the other sets of eyes, healers, etc.). While Bastion shouldn’t necessarily be anti-flanker, he shouldn’t be yet another Hero weak to them.
