Bastion ruins the game

Well, let me tell you about Bastion in Overwatch 2. It’s like having a robot army all to yourself. Seriously, you don’t even need teammates when you have this guy on your side. Bastion’s turret mode can shred through an entire enemy team before they can even say “nerf this!” Plus, with the ability to move around and lob bombs, it’s like trying to kill a cockroach in a nuclear apocalypse - impossible!

It’s not even fair, really. It’s like trying to play a game of rock-paper-scissors against someone who has a machine gun. Sure, you could try to dodge and weave, but eventually, you’re just gonna get mowed down.

And don’t even get me started on how boring it is to play as Bastion. You basically just show up in team fights and hold down the trigger button while the kills rack up. Where’s the fun in that? Give me a hero with some actually skill cap and strategy any day.

So yeah, I think it’s time for Bastion to get a good nerfing. Let’s make Overwatch 2 fun again, shall we?

Bastion is objectively worse than every other hit scan. He has the hitbox of a semi truck

would you rather have OW1 bastion?

YES!

let me guess, you also hate Widow, Hanzo, Roadhog, Moira, and Genji.

I don’t ‘hate’ any heroes. Widow and Hanzo can be frustrating, but I wouldn’t really want them changed in any major way. Roadhog and Moira are among my favorite heroes so definitely don’t hate them. Genji I used to hate, but I’ve grown to enjoy the challenge a good enemy Genji provides.

I mean yeah, bastion does some pretty meaty dps, and probably has some of the most untankable dpses out there that’s very practical to achieve without precise headshot aim. (ex: 360 raw dps against a bodywalking roadhog screaming HEALER DIFF when their healer’s 50-120 burst healing can’t outheal a 360 dps bodyshot gun)

He also rips shields and can contest a rein shield very well, Either forcing the shield to go down, or quickly shredding the rein if put down.

Some tanks and dps can have better tools. A great Echo might be able to launch sticky bombs and beam a distracted bastion to death. A great zarya might be able to bubble, a ramatra might be able to just shield the bastion’s turret form and then use his tank dps, a good sigma might be able to shield + rock combo him enough to weaken etc.

A lucky junkrat might be able to blow him up without even noticing his general direction, etc.

But yeah, he’s got great dmg output but he’s also mei wallable, sombra hackable, soldier 76 might be able to peak and rocket him and run away from turret form, and some grandmaster widow crap might just headshot him or kill him before he converts etc.

Every hero in the game basically can kill another in some way, counter or be countered. Just kinda how it is. Sometimes you might win swapping, other times someone training a hero they main might be better than you playing a hero you’re not.

You can’t really counter bastion very much as a support outside of maybe sleepdarts/nades and if your dps are lower tier, w+m1 into a death gatling gun MIGHT be their favorite idea before they screech HEALER DIFF on their 2k dmg, 20 death, 4 ult feeding selves who can’t seem to get 360 facetanked dps Is MORE than what 50-120 peak hp/s with cds can handle.

But just like every other hero has counterplay and less counterplay options on certain picks, there’s probably another bastion feeding a zarya 100% charge and then being shot to death by her (surprisingly large 65->170 barriered tank dps potential for a ow2 tank).

Zarya also seems to build up 100 charge much faster in ow2 than she did in ow1, Now there’s always a chance your enemies don’t fire at you, capping her at the lower 65-85 base laser dps without 100% charge.

Or maybe a Ramatra might do better shielding your team mates, but sometimes in ow2 when you’re being countered, a good thing to do is just consider counter picking rather than trying to force a Rein vs bastion 1v1 or Genji vs moira 1v1.

Ally team never killing the enemy supports, and the enemy has a pocketed orisa Mercy Kiriko + widow and are hard to protect dps? (Maybe, Pharah + echo with a rein tank?). Maybe try killing the supports/widows with a Monkey and take advantage of counters to laserbeam a widow up close so your dps who wouldn’t get much value out of a rein shield can finish off the unpocketed orisa.

Likewise, enemy rein is a bit too hard? Orisa is notorious for soft pressuring rein shields and fortifying charges. Good Roadhog pre nerf could hook bastions and pressure them. (Bad ones or post nerf could feed 4 ults). Zarya might charge to 100% or force a bad bastion to do nothing. A high mobility hero might not win a 1v1 but bait minigun form, run away, and then attack the bastion while his cds are down, etc.

Sometimes you have to play to your strengths or counter when you’re being countered yourself.

It must be scary being a new player and posting here. Maybe this is all forums so I’m just naive. But making a post like this and you’ve basically got a few hundred shadowy figures all ready to “inform” you on how incredibly wrong you are.

Tell us you’re silver without actually telling us you’re silver.

He’s a character of extremes, if he’s in turret form, he will melt you, but when he’s in reckon it’s when you attack him.

Play with the tempo and you’ll beat him in no time, because he’s giant.

Bastion is fine, take cover when he’s in assault configuration.

If you’re really feeling cheeky, you might even try to peek him BEFORE the transformation to dump some dps during his 1s transformation and then get the hell out of there from a corner.

You probably shouldn’t be able to finish him, and you DEFINITELY SHOULDN’T stay, but during his 1 second transform time, there is a brief second during transform where you might be able to chunk 100-150 hp with a soldier fire and rocket and then run away from a corner before he meat shredders you.

Trying to 1v1 a character when they have a barn sized 360 dps hurtbox is a lesson in death. Not even a 50-120 hp/s healer pocket can save you from 360 dps unless you’re like bastion mirroring maybe.

But chunking off 100-200 hp and facing a 100/300 hp bastion from behind a corner can definitely be less dangerous than a 300 hp one in the open.

You might not be able to 1v1 them or engage during minigun form, but if you can make him forced to get low value from the minigun by hiding, and then bullying them outside of it, he really doesn’t have as much to shine with outside of turret form.

Where did Bastion touch you, OP? Point to it on the doll.
