Bastion is an easy character and all his counters take skill to play or an ult.
But in lower rank, barely anyone knows how to play those skilled characters, so a lot of the bastion games just are extremely one sided.
If you won’t rework bastion, there needs to be an easy to play, area denial hero. Someone with an AoE that’s easy to avoid but forces movement.
Funny story, I was doing QP on a new account recently, intended mainly for Genji/Doom Fist/Widow, but ended up in a couple games doing Bastion because they weren’t available, and since it was so early, I was nailing even Diamond players with him… to the point I had one game where all the players on my team (in QP) where showing diamond… and yet they are often making the same clumsy mistakes around Bastion even silver tier does… it was kind of amusing to say the least…
Junkrat is easiest hero to pick against bastion, try him.
Junkrat isn’t easy to play. Most people don’t even know how to bomb jump with him
You don’t need to know how to mine jump, you can spam until you ult is up and bomb that bastion.
Junkrat ult is very easy to use.
Hi, im low ranked myself. In my experience, Bastion gets countered hard by the meta bronze dps like Pharah, Reaper, and Junkrat (but he’s certainly fallen off a bit).
Killing Bastion doesn’t need to be a team effort at all.
If only there was a hero that shot giant balls that went through shields that could hurt Bastion in a bunker comp.

Most bastion setups can be undone with Mei and Hanzo.
Use Mei to lift him from safety,
Spam arrow with Hanzo.
Making an easy counter is not the answer, learning how to beat him is.
There are no attacks that passes through shields. That is the problem.
Back then symmetra was capable of keeping him on a move.
Firestrike passes through shields.
As does Coalescence.
Oh and Dragons.
Yeah but they are not consistent enough to get rid of him.
Bastion is easy enough to beat, cos he has no easy way to get away from a dangerous situation (since he cannot move that fast)…if he’s being focused fired, he’s not going to survive, even with his self-heal and/or any pocket healing…
But of course, no one knows how to get a Bastion in danger cos the vast majority of players in this game don’t know how to fight their way out of a brown paper bag…

Its butt is its weakness.
I mean, Bastion is not OP, but he is certainly the most badly designed hero in the game and the most frustrating to play against. He is simply an objectively “low skill = high reward” hero who if played in a decently coordinated team that always plays around him can be almost unstoppable in ANY rank, but on the other hand he is so situational and in many circumstances useless. His counters are many, but the problem is that ALL of them also require a team that will have double the coordination as the team who is playing the Bastion comp and that’s why in lower ranks where all that communication is almost non - existent, Bastion simply dominates.
And everything is even worse right now with the on - going Bunker comp, as again in EVERY rank people choose this comp extremely regularly because “tHe PrOs pLaY HiM LoL” and most of the times farm free wins with little to no effort.
Only a complete rework that really hits on his sentry mode and make him less situational can fix all these problems, but really my hopes for it are unfortunately extremely limited.
Ikr bastion is so annoying if you play tank he can instantly kill a DVA and he can heal over 600 health
Hanzo and junkrat sounds like hell unless they run double barrier… At which point you can use 2 barriers and bastion + hanzo/junkrat
I would suggest tracer which is my go to pick against bastion, as he can’t watch 2 spots.
But i don’t expect tracer from low elo, allthought, i learned her as a bronze player back in s1…
