Barrier Buff Proposal

You know how my threads go, if you really agree don’t just like, add a comment and keep this thing alive, that being said, let’s do it.

Lots of people would suggest making enemies unable to pass through barriers like Orisa’s Barrier, Rein’s shield or Winston’s Bubble, but that would create an exploit in certain chokepoints or situations, not to mention enemy players can already do that in a sense (their bodies can obstruct enemy players), I propose a middle ground for said barriers.

*Enemy players moving through barriers get a 20% movement speed reduction, this will persist as long as any part of their body (hitbox) collides with said barrier.

So, yes or no? like it or not? would you rage and ask for a huge nerf 3 hours after it goes on PTR and consider DPS heroes dead? share your thoughts.

Is that the right direction to go in with these guys though? I wouldn’t say slowing enemies that cross barriers is the right path to follow

… literally get a rein/orisa combo on hanamura and that first point will be un-winable

No, sounds very anti-fun. Besides, people could just mobility through the barriers, (blink, dash etc) so it won’t really help anyway.

Winston is not meant to use his shield for chokepoints, any slowness inside his bubble would make him stupidly op, and the shields are ok right now.
This is from a winston main since season 2 and a all round tank

Would make barriers significantly more OP than they already are (looking at you Orisa) and would just hurt slow characters even more than it would mobile ones.

I just thought it would be a better alternative to the “block everyone” proposal, besides, this is only because said tanks (maybe not Winston that much) can get bypassed by people and other players have also mentioned it.

In all fairness Hanamura’s design on point A is completely retarded and needs a rework, well, 80% of the game in fact, too many chokepoints, I agree, first we would need those maps fixed.

Make shields electrocute the enemies, dealing damage, er since they are powered usually by electricity and gets shut down by EMP. Or uhm, not let stuns happen through them maybe?

I kinda agree with enemies getting oofed by the shielders, but the problem is that it’s either not enough and it’s complete garbage or super OP and we all tanks now.

That’s just because people don’t know how to find alternate routes

This has been quite some feedback, I just wonder if you have gone to all those threads proposing solid shields then.

I don’t know where you got that idea but solid shields are rarely suggested on the forums and for good reason as its a bad idea overall

There is no alternate route other than the small window, which not everyone can access unless you can coordinate a Mei bridge, Eichenwalde had to be reworked for that same reason.

Any “We can’t play tanks anymore” kind of threads, on the other hand I think people think the slowdown would be permanent inside a barrier or something instead of just going through, to be honest the idea came to me because I remember shields work like that in Star Wars.

Well, let me amend my statement to “routes and strategies” because you don’t always need to kill enemies to push through a door. A well-timed Reinhardt charge can push through that door and draw the enemies back for the team to push through.
