Baptiste discussion

So, I’ve been watching a ton of streamers that play Bap, I don’t enjoy playing him, but I think it’s interesting to see just how strong his ult is…
A rein fire strike one shotting people through Baptiste ult?
And no one talking about how strong it is?
I think this is a classic case of DPS mains aren’t mad about it so they won’t bring it up lol.
I hate to take the Mercy route, but mercy was nerfed to the ground because DPS mains were mad about her, but now Bap benefits them, and they won’t say anything.
I dunno, it’s interesting for sure.

I wish they would’ve placed his current ultimate on cooldown and put his I.F. as his ultimate. Obviously modifying each one respectively, but still think they mixed these up in my opinion. I’m no expert, but seems like they are making balancing harder on themselves by adding a cooldown that valuable - looks at mercy.

Exactly! Lol. I think it’s an interesting discussion, I don’t like bringing up mercy all the time, I don’t really have to, but I think its a good point, DPS players and OWL players complained about mercy, she got nerfed into the void.
Blizz adds baptiste, an immortality field (Strong ability) and his ult literally makes a rein fire strike 1 shot, but yet no ones saying anything about this, why? Because the DPS players are okay with the one shot mechanic, it makes no sense, but it also makes a ton of sense lol

Eh, I think it’s fine. One wrong placement and your team is screwed. Also, it is an overwhelming ultimate.

I think it’s fine if you don’t know how to play him, I.E lower ranks, but if you want to be technical, Mercy mass rez wasn’t the greatest in lower ranks either, people obviously don’t know how to play to the max capability in lower ranks, but once you reach the peak ranks, I think it begins to become a problem, especially when people master him. I think Blizz is making it way too hard on themselves to balance the game, especially introducing a hero with an ult that makes a rein fire strike or a Ashe dynamite one shot… lol

Baptiste is an odd bird. His ult buffs DPS, which seems like a way to address the GOATS issue. His I.F. negates 1 hit ults, which seems like a way to tone down instant deaths. For those reasons I like him and hate him.

He nudges game play towards more skill, and less ult usage. Putting the emphasis more on hitting shots than through hitting “Q”. His mobility allows for more fluid play as well.

Then there’s the other side of his I.F., people don’t die until you kill it. The I.F. is ANOTHER non-player entity on the battlefield. It is another addition to the comps that just never die (see GOATS). These two things are the majority of my frustration while playing OW.

I want to play against other players, not AI. If I.F. could only absorb so much damage before being depleted, that would be great. Thinking about it, limited absorption would be great for D. Matrix as well.

I think the way they designed Baptiste is great, as a Widow and Genji player. If they switched his lamp and his ultimate, it would be super bad for DPS players. If the abilities switched places, they would have to be rebalanced. His damage amp would be tuned down, which sucks for me as a widow player. And his lamp would have to become another fully fledged defensive ultimate, which would be absolutely HORRIBLE for me as a Genji player. So no thanks, I’ll take the current Baptiste.
