Baptiste damage still needs a nerf

It’s as high or higher than Illari’s except he’s also got an immortality field, pulse aoe heal, and blast radius healing.

His damage should be toned down.

I still find Baptiste insanely difficult to use. Judging from how little I actually see him get played as well as ever really seeing him being an issue, I’d say many find him difficult to use.

Trying to swap back and forth from projectile aim with an arc to snap shooting an enemy player with a little bit of recoil control needed (compared to every other gun in this game with no recoil). The arc projectile speed and his lack of consistent mobility frequently makes him very poor at supporting many characters in the game that tend to have very high mobility.

His long cooldowns, while powerful, give him long draughts of vulnerability. You really just don’t see him get played much at all.

Honestly? He does. I thought he was fine until I started playing him exclusively in comp with the motto of being an absolute pest to flankers and exposed supports and practically haven’t lost a match since in Diamond queue (1 lost, 1 I crashed and my video card got bricked because OW). The main issue? Even a relatively bad bap can have insane survivability, damage and healing output as long as you keep your cooldowns on a tight leash and use the support passive. I had games where I went 37/8/0 with no issue and dealt more damage than both our DPSs combined.

He shoots in faster bursts, for similar damage but has a full headshot multiplier.

He was always better.

But people don’t pay attention to the male supports.

Bap Lucio and zen always get a free pass. Lifeweaver gets mixed, but his release state was unusually disgustingly bad.

Yet it’s very hard to win on him.

As long as we don’t reduce the fall-off range, sure. I could live with dropping down to 22 (~114 DPS) or 23 (~119 DPS) damage per bullet. It’s been fun having 127.5 DPS but I didn’t expect it to last forever. I didn’t even expect it to last this long, to be honest with you.

It’s sustain issue, not damage issue. Compare Zen to Bap and you have all the answers you need why Bap feels so strong.

it has less range though i think

Illari does waay more damage than baptiste. I’ve lost 5 games today all because the enemy happened to have Illari unlocked while I don’t have her yet.

Enemy Illari ended up doing twice the damage of my baptiste even though I was right clicking majority of the match.

his damage is one of the last things that needs nerfs, and if you did nerf his damage, itd leave the support role severely lacking in shield damage potential.

i dont think lamp ever needed those revert buffs tho

Both could be slightly toned down IMO. I’ve honestly thought about what halving self healing abilities would do to balancing, and it could help with a lot of problematic stuff/heroes not dying. Toning the damage to 24 and shifting some of the Regen Burst healing back to HoT and not instant healing would probably make Bap one the most balanced Heroes on the roster.

please someone post a screenshot of top 10/top20 support on each server. I think it would really add a lot to this conversation, even tho it describes the highest parts of ladder. Its really fascinating, if anyone can add images I’d really appreciate it. What it shows is very related to this conversation

I don’t know how helpful that actually is since it’s a tiny selection of players, and even then, some of them are alts. For example, NotHealer is ML7’s Illari-only account IIRC, and Steve is Frogger’s alt (spoilers btw).

But I’ll not turn down an opportunity to flex picture posting privileges. :muscle:t6:

Agree. Something about him needs to be toned down, damage or survivability or something. He’s tanky as heck for a support and can blast you to pieces while refusing to die.

tysm! Yeah maybe it would be better with pickrate/winrate info for overall ranks and then also GM to see how they compare, or across platforms as well. But that could be a lot of images lol. Thanks for posting though, I feel like the consensus on the forums is that ana is strong but not broken, that bap is good but not broken, and that zen and mercy are still really strong. Looking at the leaderboards really clears things up for me. People like that will only play what is good, they dont care about making something weak look good for the love of it (99% of the time)

Hey, for your images, at least for me, EU is right but for US and Asia I get double 11-20 and don’t see 1-10.

Bap is probably the most OP support right now.
I’m not great at aiming but I hardly finish a match will less than about 15 kills and a few of them are solo kills. Usually my kills are about the same as the dps.
I don’t find healing too difficult except if there are flying characters, in that case I mostly let the other support do the job.
I don’t really think he’s that hard to play and I’m mediocre, I have seen other Baps doing much better than me and absolutely carrying their team.

Or you could completely rework immortality so hes not broken when his damage is fine.

It might be possible for him to do more dmg, but it is certainly much harder for him to hit that dmg. Other than him constantly going back and forth with healing teammates and shooting enemies between each shot, he has a normal hitscan hitbox with recoil. Illari has a projectile hitbox. I have certainly died much faster to illari at like 20m+ range than a bap. He isn’t anywhere near as scary at mid range as her.

Supports don’t want to be just healbots. I’d take reduced healing instead.
