Baptise needs buffs

Don’t tell me it’s not his meta. Halving Regen burst crippled him and now he’s borderline unplayable. The ult buff was nice but he REALLY REALLY needs some more attention.

With a 50 grenade he heals squishes to full with 4 shots.

Ana does it in 3 shots.

Now imagine it for Tanks, way more shots for Bapt.

Playing him feels like spamming grenades non-stop because your teammates keep getting low all the time, unless you use regen burst.

Maybe give him 60 heals on direct hits.

They can simply make his gun fire bullets and heal granades on his gun faster.

I would be fine with faster grenade speed (to heal targets at range) and/or 60 hp on direct hits.

I get they want to tone down heals, but after the BS gun nerfs, healing was all he had.

This might just be me, but what I wish they’d change is his three round burst. It’s always felt really awkward to me. I’d greatly prefer a semi-auto rifle that outputs the same raw DPS, but with less magazine capacity.

If I could buff Baptiste I would:

  • Increase projectile speed for more consistent long-range healing
  • Reduce CD of regen burst or tweak its numbers to be less garbage
  • Reduce CD of field while reducing its radius to enable bunkers less

projectile speed buff he need

Well it’s not…

But regardless, here are buffs I want for him to make him more versatile in non-Bunker comps:

  1. Buff his healing grenade projectile speed to make him more consistent in healing spread out comps and long range teammates. Helps push him out of Bunker niche

  2. Buff his fire rate to bring back the old heal/shoot pattern

  3. Make IF travel and deploy faster to make it better at long range

  4. Buff/rework EXO boots to be more reliable mobility to reposition

Don’t buff his AOE shift heal at all as that only enforces bunker comp. Keep it for his own self sustain only to give him anti-dive peel for himself.

When they buff Baptiste’s ultimate:

A projectile speed buff would do wonders for Baptiste, and I personally wouldn’t object to a slight reload speed buff for the guy either.

It was always going to be a problem if the trends shifted away from close or tight formations to more spread out dive/flanking compositions. Regen Burst wasn’t going to fix that, no matter what.

Moreover, Regen Burst was really too strong. 30 healing per second for 5 seconds puts Inspire and Crossfade to shame, despite the lengthier cooldown. Now it more fairly competes, but as predicted, once the meta shifted, Baptiste was going to struggle.

Projectile-speed, overall, wouldn’t really help him. He’s still tied down to low ammo (500 per target per reload), and boosting it to 60 per shot, would be the same as adding back 2 ammo his healing (600 per target reload). Either way, it’s technically more favored for him to have a higher ammo count that a higher per-healing round, though, neither would hurt. It wouldn’t really help him, however, as it is, technically, not his metagame at the moment.

Wouldn’t really help. His projectile speed is fast enough, and the projectiles travel an incredible distance, especially from higher heights. The reasoning should be obvious, but Baptiste’s projectiles are arcing, and any faster would make them more difficult to land, since prediction is still important.

Downtime for Regen Burst is 8 seconds after a 13 second cooldown trigger; this is just 3 seconds longer than Inspire refresh triggers, and typically, Regen Burst is a pretty easy ability to activate overall. Numbers-wise, it heals for the same amount as Inspire and Crossfade now, 15 healing per second for 5 seconds, that’s good enough.

IF is a pretty lousy-ability all told, but adjusting the cooldown can also lead to some serious abuse problems that have happened before. It would be better if they got rid of it and place in something else, but that’s unlikely to happen, so we’re stuck with it’s current cooldown.

It wouldn’t make him more consistent.

Returning his fire rate buff from back in the summer of 2019 might an idea worth considering.

It travels and deploys fast enough.

You either get a cooldown on it, or a charge. I’d rather stick to the charge.

I don’t play bap much but I yesterday I was healing a hamster from 50ish health and god did it take ages.

Tell me about it. Trying to keep tanks topped off is a total pain.

You’re not supposed to top them off, you’re supposed to be mitigating and triaging. That means keeping them alive, not keeping topped off.
