I got banned like literally 30 minutes ago with the reason " Recent activity on this account has shown various and continued actions deemed inappropriate for Overwatch. These actions violate our Code of Conduct and create an unacceptable detriment to our players."
and I immidiately wrote a ticket on why I might have gotten banned. So basically for the past 2-3 days I’ve been playing with my russian friend and I used a vpn to russia because if we get the wrong server his ping is very bad and recently I downloaded something from a site my friend sent me and his accounts got hacked recently so I switched passwords 2 times in the last 3 days, it might not been that specific file that we downloaded but I wanted to make sure. Did anyone ever got unbanned from a situation like this? Please help me I maxed out every bp since launch and spent lot of time and money on the game and I don’t wanna lose all of these.
you can appeal and see what they say but the russia VPN server might of also triggered it as currntly i think alot of businesses cant do business with russia due to the war n stuff going on
I already wrote to them and hopefully they lift the ban because I actually didn’t do anything other than these 2. I sometimes don’t even join voicechat or textchat to avoid any toxic behaviour as I have a tradition of speaking back. I never been banned for anything inside overwatch I only got 1 warning for toxicism around season 2 or 3 and I been very quiet since that to make sure I don’t get any penalty.
sadly the report system is also massively broken
I have a high suspicion towards the russian vpn because there were 2-3 same instances that I just remembered where I vpnd to America and I also lived in Germany for 7 months and on these instances all i got was an account lock and I just had to confirm myself with an sms this account lock also happened yesterday and I instantly unlocked it.
MY question is why are you downloading strange things?
As I stated it might not have been why my friends accounts got hacked, he downloads all kinds of stuff and I just made sure that I’m not getting my accounts stolen. But if you want to know it was a torrent file with supposedly cisco packet tracer, we needed the program to do our project at home instead of in the school.
I’m not buying it at all. Lots of suspicious circumstances you mention. That VPN to Russia is probably a boost or something you bought or that program you knowingly downloaded are cheating tools. Also why did you change your account name so recently?
What’s suspicious about using a vpn to russia to play with someone who has 100+ ping on most eu servers. The program that we supposedly downloaded was Cisco Packet Tracer which is a tool to stimulate and write code for IT networks such as a router or switch etc. you can look it up if you want more information. For the name change, I change it very often like 2-3 months, usually its some recent meme like this one.
It’s suspicious because I’m not buying it and it’s just a fishy explanation/excuse to what actually really happened. I know what Packet Tracer is, I’ve used it in college but I’m not talking about Packet Tracker and neither are you because you presumingly don’t know what you downloaded.

But if that’s the real thing that happened then what am i supposed to do just take my ban because I’ve played with a friend? Also it was Packet Tracer since the program launched and we did our project but as I said how would I know for sure after my friends accounts got hacked and as a precaution I changed every password from my email to other gaming platforms. Even though there’s a free version, you can only have 3 saves unless your school gives you a student account which takes time and the project needed to be done by the 23rd of December and we didn’t want to do it in school but in the comfort of our own home.
Why torrent it? Pretty sure you can get that from Cisco itself.
Because the free version only has 3 saves and getting access to the educational one would have taken 1-2 months and we miss deadline.
So in other words, you bought account using vpn , expecting blizzard wont caught you, but they did.

I can prove with my ID, bank account, email and everything that I owned the account since its creation and no one ever logged into it!

If you care about your account so much: STOP DOING DODGY THINGS WITH IT.
- Don’t download sheisty files because your friend told you to.
- Don’t VPN (it’s known for tripping the anticheat sometimes.)
- Don’t bicker in comms (ever, even to ‘answer back.’)
From the wording of the email it sounds like you got banned for actions in game like toxicity. Sounds like your actions might have just caught up with you.
Don’t leave your house because a car might runover you type of mentality. Like what is your point? Lot of streamers use VPN as well, yet they are not banned. I need to download the thing for our project and we had to do the assignment on time so i have to result to other methods. I haven’t been in voice or text chat for the past 3 seasons. Talking how things should have been done after an incident happens and actually not being in the situation itself is like saying “What if I were born rich” and etc. you will never know it’s in the past. I opened this thread so maybe someone can help me. If you do not have something positive to add to this just keep it to yourself. 
with VPNs it causes massive hit registration issues. So more than likely you got reported for cheating. Im not saying you are cheating. But if someone is supposed to be hit by a projectile or not be hit by a projectile. it comes off as a person using hax.
If someone is trying to hit your character with a projectile and it does nothing or you are hitting someone vice versa. It messes with stuff.
They actually do need to be forward and honest with people that VPN’ing isn’t allowed.

Do you have any idea how many ‘banned for no reason’ threads we get on here? And nine times out of ten they tell on themselves less than three posts in by basically saying ‘I only get toxic a little bit’.
We only have your word on what you’ve been up to. And so far you’ve told us your friend got their account hacked after DL-ing dodgy files and you have a bad habit of gobbing off in chat when anyone says something you don’t like. But only you and CS know the truth.
Look, there’s nothing anyone on the forums can do for you. The devs don’t read these posts, we have no control over your account, and CS don’t come here. You want you account back? Open a ticket with them. 
i got suspended today and they literally didn’t list a reason 
this company is clearly tired of my shenanigans but im ngl I have no idea how im not permabanned
I have been suspended like at least 10 times now, and im still not permabanned, the suspension doesn’t even seem to last more than a month
