Ban Tanks in Deathmatch

This is getting so ****ing old. You giga-buffed tanks and did nothing to balance them for arcade FOR THE ENTIRETY OF OW2. No 150 hp doesn’t change jack. Ban tanks in deathmatch. I don’t know how many times you tone-deaf devs need to hear this. BAN. TANKS. IN. DEATHMATCH. You wanna know why everyone left for Marvel Rivals? Because y’all are so imcompetent that you can’t do the simplest things to make this game better. BAN TANKS IN DEATHMATCH. Thank you for listening to my Ted Talk.

When I play tanks in DM, I like to do little challenges for myself. Like if I play Orisa, I’m looking to only use Javelin Spin and Throw to get elims. It’s more fun that way instead of being oppressive…

I used to do Hog no hook/no vape in OW1. It was a challenge.

Ohai JRG. Yea I don’t mind when people have self-imposed handicaps and challenges, like only hooking people off the map.

But there’s too many bad eggs making deathmatch unplayable for DPS and supports right now, and just calling for a ban until devs can figure out how to seriously nerf them in arcade / open queue.

Agreed, it is no fun to have to face an entire lobby of tanks as a support. Just have a separate one for tanks only or one with everything and one without tanks.

True. Well then maybe just nerf them (significantly reduce hp) in this game mode.

There have to be ability changes too IMO. I’ve been doing testing with randoms by hosting an FFA deathmatch with reduced tank HP in custom games, and all the instant overhealth and damage mitigations on cooldowns were still problems cause they’re really easy to cheese duels with. Eg, I had to bring down Ram’s nemesis form armor from 300 to 75 before people started getting comfortable with taking the fight instead of running away from an impossible 1v1.

Mitigation is definitely the biggest issue, but there’s also the tank passive, self-regen, and armor changes that really puts tanks over the top. Like how Rein can stick up his (1500 hp?) shield for a few seconds and start healing for the equivalent of a Mercy beam all the way to full hp. It’s too much effort for too little reward, because they’ll often end up spawning a couple meters away from you in 3 seconds. Either tank bans, heavier nerfs, or more incentive to kill tanks (+2 points instead of +1) needs to happen.

They can’t even get their 6v6 QP test to work properly, I assure you the dev team either doesn’t care at all about tanks in DM, or doesn’t have the resources to do anything about them.

Hell, they can’t even balance tank HP pools for OQ and they’ve been fed the answer by content creators and casual players alike.

Not saying tanks shouldn’t be balanced for DM, just saying they possibly never will (and that was also the case in OW1).

If they don’t have the resources then they should simply ban tanks. There is zero logic behind buffing tanks into raid bosses for 5v5s, but then allowing them to run rampant in the same state in arcade modes. Just ban tanks until they figure out what to do in terms of balance.
