Ban certain words

I think they should ban certain words from being written or just ban the people who use those words consistently. It shouldn’t be to hard to either one of them right?

You can’t even say the word ‘heter0’ I doubt you have the ability to say the n word or the well known gay slurs.

My gf just started talking in chat and straight away he started to harrasse her by saying sl** and all. Those words i think should be banned. Anything that is like basically causes toxicity.

I disagree that words should be banned but they should be punished for saying such things. Use the report feature and mute them.

League of legends has a filter thingy which can be turned off and on.

So does overwatch but with the filter on it kinda makes it hard to report the people for what they say.

I mean if you think you’re going to be offended by some words you should use the filter anyway.

If you think you can handle seeing words then don’t use the filter and report them/mute them when they use words you deem unacceptable.

Filter it out and be blissfully ignorant, or turn the filter off with the intent to report people.

I don’t go out of my way to report people but I report bad behavior when I see it. If I felt that I couldn’t be bothered enough to do that and wanted those words to be banned, I’d just turn the filter on or turn chat off (well aware of the downside of turning chat off).

I suppose it really depends on whether or not you have a concrete definition for what these “certain” words are. I mean, there are swear words that are offensive when used in context, but they can and are used in other contexts that aren’t offensive. (The f word comes to mind)

Personally, I believe the report + mute/block system is enough. Banning the words or banning people based on the use of these words (Depending on your definition) would cause more harm than good.

The words don’t really bother me. Im just making this cus blizzard says they want to fix the toxicity in the community. Yet all they have done is semi kixed report system. Just thinking banning some of the words that. cause the issues.

you can turn the chat off… if you ban words people will just find workarounds, they always do…it’s just words that some unknown person wrote anyway, you shouldn’t care, they can’t hurt

The problem is context matters. If a group of friends is playing together and they call each other ‘sl*t’ or some other words in team chat just messing around then they shouldn’t just be punished on the spot. And if they want to use words in a joking way they should be allowed to.

If it annoys you, turn on the profanity filter.

the filter doesn’t work cos swearing is good an useful, but people who disparage peoples race or sexuality shouldn’t be aloud out in public
