Ball use to have a counter

Sombra… Now he just rolls in and out disrupting. Not much you can do to him.

All I’m going to say is try playing ball and you will quickly see how people counter him.

I am a terrible ball … They would counter me by just shooting me LOL

Fair I suppose. Good on you for acknowledging it’s not an easy hero to master.

So what I’ll tell you as a ball main who plays likely around diamond level, is the CC, stuns, highCQC, and slows available come out REALLY fast when you disrupt reasonably well as ball.

I’ll get maybe 3 teamfights out before I’m fighting hog, reaper/junkrat, sombra/mei, Ana, and zen.

I dunno if there’s any reason to add more (or buff) options to anti-ball.

Yo! Advance Ball player here.

You say he doesn’t have a counter, but he does. Fear not Ball-hater as your words are not completely incorrect.

See because of WBall’s very high skill ceiling it is very possible to pkay around all counters available with enough skill and practice to where counters can become just hindrances, albeit this does little to aleviate the issue at hand here.

So Ball does have counters. Just about any tank buster can be a soft counter. Then you need to be playing against Ball in the same flexible manner a Ball can play.

Like yes Junkrat, Mei, Brig, Sombra can counter Ball, but where are you placing your trap? How do you position yourself as Mei? When should you hack as Sombra?

All the answer will vary heavily depending on the Ball player’s style of play.

For Junkrat watch how aggressive Ball is. Best to put the trap by doorways and corners to snag a Ball into your team. For Mei you should where Ball wants to piledrive to punish him heavily for each piledriver. For Sombra you would want to hack each piledriver to cancel it and then follow up. For all three you can get huge value by tossing mine, ice wall, and EMP at Ball’s minefield.

As much as you want to counter a Ball enemy you need to realize that a good Ball player will be adjusting to you so in turn you need to adjust to him.

Ball is still one of the easier tanks to counter, but if you think the same strategy of just “spam this to counter” is going to work on every Ball, then you’ve already failed at flexing to counter WBall.

Hey Krotan! Hows it. Been a while since we’ve talked in the Discord server for Hammonds.

Do you agree adaptive shields should have a self cleanse and then maybe that phase thing Kiriko usually does on Suzu?

Like that would help Ball a ton.

Sombra can still counter ball. You just need to havk him specifically when he uses grapple

I… was in a discord server?
Sorry but if someone talked to you that wasn’t me.

There is another K-person around with a similar but not me name.

Adaptive shields … could benefit from a self clense in this current climate. There’s just so much junk that gets thrown on Ball upon initiation.

BUT… I don’t think ball is particularly weak either, just if the whole enemy team decides to counter him, he has to switch which I feel is part of the game… but I think I remember you disagree.

I do to some regard.

But I end up swapping half of the time once I realize my teammates cannot handle the counters for me to play.

Like that sucks having teammates who never realize, “Oh my tank is having issues with X enemy? Maybe I should focus on them more?”

Then the dreaded “tank diff!” Comes out. Players don’t say it anymore but man…do they still express the same sentiment.

If Sombra focuses ball she can counter him very well.

Note: you may not kill him after hack but you have stopped him to do his job and you can do it again after a bunch of seconds (when he will recover his cooldowns).
This is very bad for a ball cause it makes him useless for his team even staying alive.

Fyi. I play around corners and cover. Under hack which lasts for 8 seconds, it means that Sombea canmot hack me again, so I can wait a bit then cycle out another rotation of abilities for damage.

Sombra right now just forces a small pause on Ball, but that’s it. Sombra still needs to find value elsewhere if her team is going to win.

Yeah, I also play a bit more close to my team almost never flanking or being too aggressive both because you need to survive and you may need to peel for your supports if the b*tch harasses them.

If she is too annoying, I just swap to zarya or sigma and that’s it.

Tell me you don’t play Ball without telling me you don’t play Ball.

everytime i see a ball i go brig. Just don’t let him roll into the team and make the game unplayable for him

Sombra is still a great counter to ball it’s just not as free as before, what happens when two heroes that make the game unfun for everyone in the lobby meet they go into a competition of sucking each other’s fun, ball has to wait for sombra , sombra has to wait for ball, generally ball gives in cause he is tank, you hack his pule drive repeatedly and virus you win

The only thing is you as sombra become a hack bot doing it.

So while you win and ruin balls day , the price you pay for it is your fun.

Something you don’t have to against other heroes.

Hey krotoan how you doing buddy been a while since we talked on bastion mains slack server.

I think they should give bastion double gun like mauga in recon form.

stop plz… I already have a tenuous grasp of reality as it is.

Everytime I see a Brig, I shoot for her. Break the sheild leave her open. Roll in only on angles where Brig is not paying attention, if she is, outrange her and have her shield up opposite to your own team.

Strangely enough, Ball has the power to make the situation bad against a Brig only by taking advantage of her weaknesses then limiting her options on fighting against you.
