whenever we say sombra should be nerfed into irrelevancy people always say but what about ball? he will be too op. the difference is ball takes skill while sombra does not. if ball gets played a lot that is okay because he takes actual brains to play. sombra is participation trophy for sub 50 iq players.
Ball is basically unkillable without at least one counter so this is how 5v5 goes.
A hero without counters, even if they do require higher than average mechanical skill to pick up, quickly stops being skillful.
You need âsenseâ to play Sombra well.
Not too much related to the topic, but I always hate when people argue that nerfing one character will make another character simply out of control and unable to be dealt with.
There are more counters to Hammond than Sombra and more counters to Hog and Mauga than Ana. Just because a single counter is super straightforward and easy to pull off doesnât mean itâs the only effective way to fight them.
Then nerf his stats or something. Sombra making most of his buttons not work just by existing isnt the solution.
Both heroes have very high skill ceiling, but I agree
Balls has a higher skill floor than Sombra, but however, both heroes take skills to play effectively, but people are not ready for that type of conversation because âInfinite rolls - infinite invisibilityâ
Your right!!! Lets nerf Sombra till she has his win rate.
(note, this would be buffs to Sombra.)
I donât think Blizzard is going to take the âShe takes no skillâ crowd seriously. Those days seem long past.
Ball is basically unkillable without 2+ counters at the moment.
He is basically impossible to kill with his hp and mobility. I suppose you can force him out, but itâs difficult if the ball knows what he is doing. I tend to just âignoreâ ball because shooting him feels as productive as shooting Roadhog. So considering that other tanks have the same issue, maybe itâs not as big of an issue as it feels? Or are tanks you have to completely ignore a bad concept in general?
But this is very true. Somehow amazing ball players make it work regardless and I wonder how. Itâs still not very fair or fun, so even players like Yeatle who are good enough to play around counters just donât want to.
Yeah, watching him play into 3 counters the other day in Eichenwald was just painful - most of the time he doesnt even go in for a fight, he just baits cooldowns.

She takes skill, sure, thatâs not my problem - i want to play support without feeling constantly unfairly harassed and i want to be able to play ball. Widow also takes skill and i think she utterly sucks for the game. Enemy skill requirement doesnât excuse me having a bad time (this also applies to Moira).
Sombra also takes skill, just a different type of skill.
The problem with sombra is her cheesy playstyle.
Hack is simply unhealthy because itâs very high value for very low skill.
They either have to make Hack a skill shot or reduce its value drastically.
Canceling an ultimate with 0 aim while being invisible is just an abomination.
It is if the main arguments people are bringing that she doesnât take skill, because your complains will end up buried under the stuff which Blizzard will ignore.
The problem is Sombra is when she is jumping you, a lot of the skillful play has been in place leading up to it, so you donât see it.
I donât think it is possible for a character to be âcheesyâ when they have one of the lowest win rates in the game.
She canât, you know that right?
Maybe you should play as her, and learn what her abilities do, and what restrictions there are.
Playing into heroes when you donât know how their abilities work is harder than playing into heroes when you understand what they do.
This just isnât true. Both heroes take skill. I play both of them and itâs just not even remotely true that Sombra doesnât take skill. Sheâs actually a fairly high skill cap hero.
What is true, and maybe I could agree with you if you said this, is that Ball takes more skill. Because Ball is one of the hardest heroes in the game. Heâs got a higher skill floor and a higher skill ceiling than Sombra. That doesnât mean sheâs skilless, but it does mean that a lower skilled Sombra can counter a higher skilled Ball. And I get that feels unfair. But your characterization of Sombra players is also unfair and doesnât advance the conversation.
There is no âskillful playâ in flanking to the backline while being invisible. I play sombra, and flanking with her is as easy as saying hello
Being cheesy has nothing to do with the win rate. One thing is about the playstyle, the other is about the effectiveness in winning games.
I mean you look clueless saying this.
You can very well initiate a hack on an ulting enemy while invisible, and only become visible once the hacking starts.
That is called canceling an ultimate with 0 aim required out of invisibility.
Youâre welcome.
Oh, Go read what you said again.
because
IS VERY DIFFERENT from
Seriously, donât try to pretend you said something else.
Obviously not, because if that was the case, the win rate would be higher, and given the basic misunderstanding you seem to have about her, I donât think you play her. or if you have, you havenât learnt anything about her while you did so.
Believe me, it is not VERY DIFFERENT. Even a toddler can get the meaning of the sentence.
And up to few seasons ago, Sombra used to cancel ultimates while remaining invisible.
This hero has the word âcheeseâ written all over it.
Donât know why you mad about this fact.
Personally I like cheese.
Anyone with eyes can see you totally mischaractised what she does.
She never did. She ALWAYS became visible. She has never had a time where she would stay invisible while hacking.
You write this after quoting the part about how easy it is to flank.
You seem to have problems with quoting.
Again, your nonsense here has nothing to do with how easy it is to flank with her
Dude, you either never played Sombra or you have some memory problems
