Idk, making everything offensive just doesn’t really work.
After solving the smurfing problem* not before that
Just let them do it. From beginning it was obvious, that DPS and tanks/supports can’t peacefully coexist within same game - one role tries to get kills and 2 try to deny kills.
I hope dont cuz that will turn overwatch into a “Valorant” or “Counter-strike” instead of having skill-full duels everything will happen on 0.5 secs…
No don’t let them do it, OW is the only game of its kind and its the only game I still play basically. If they end up killing this game than I have no other game to go to besides paladins which is B tier OW. There’s millions of other games where your “elite” aim skills are vitally important, CoD, BF, Valorant, CS, go play one of those games, I’m tired of having to defend OW from itself as it tries to lose its entire identify and become another garbage FPS.
You can go in MMO games, like Black Desert. I did it, once direction they go with Overwatch became too obvious.
MMO PVP is an unbalanced mess, I prefer OW as gear score doesn’t dictate who wins.
Honestly that might be the only thing that saves him from the shame pit. If they go this way, they’ll have to drop 2-2-2 because high damage low sustain makes support roles hellish (think any typical fps with a medic all the way back to Wolfenstein ET). If they drop 2-2-2 then most healers probably won’t be seeing much play, unless they have high damage potential on top of healing utility - because in a high damage environment you typically wouldn’t depend on a medic to save you anyway since they die so fast so having one around is not necessary critical or expected.
All I can think of is tf2. Heavy is useless without medic because he gets eaten alive otherwise (lard-fat body size plus slow movement), all but the best medics die like moths on a blast furnace when fighting coordinated teams because their damage is useless and their health pool is low. The rest of the game is just TDM except you only have 20s to kill everyone so you can cap during the spawn cycle.
Then sorry, but you got nowhere to run. Players do not appreciate being defeated by careful planning. They want fast action, fast “pew-pew” contests.
Exactly I got no where to run, that’s why I stay and fight against the all these damn pew pew losers trying to ruin this great game.
don’t bother trying to explain. These people dont understand
On it’s face, this sounds pretty awful. Several of the tanks don’t lack for damage already, and they still feel pretty bad to play, because being bursted down 400 hp in a second if you don’t have a shield up is not fun.
This game was unique in its pacing by giving ways to work around the standard FPS gameplay with tanking and healing roles. That was part of its major appeal. This kind of change would just homogenize the game further into just another twitchy shooter. I’ve already stopped playing because of how burst-damage focused the game has become. This change would keep me from ever coming back.
Agreed completely.
Also, what idiot thinks that a global increase in firepower will allow him and only him to 1v3 enemies? Like, does he think the enemies aren’t also benefiting from the damage increase or just him?
If they’re going to make all tanks ‘off tanks’ and more or less get rid of barriers then we won’t need a global damage increase, if anything some dmg would want to be toned down. Barriers are in demand because spam is wild in this game.
Yes, exactly. I avoid the more DPS-y heroes in tank and support because that’s not what I enjoy. Not to mention that if we make those categories more DPS’y, then the DPS will complain if they ever become too good at doing it. If all three categories are based around getting kills, then you severely lose class identity and you’re probably going to end up on an even worse trajectory of high buffs to certain heroes, basement-tier nerfs to others.
I want the three classes to be distinct from each other, and right now they aren’t even feeling that, because tanks and support have had their uniqueness toned down or removed in some cases. It’s like when someone says they don’t want Valkyrie removed from Mercy because “Hey I get awesome kills with it!” - which is exactly the wrong thing for a character that’s supposed (according to the devs themselves) to be the purest form of healer in the game.
Overwatch has a balance team?!? Sure seems like it’s one unpaid intern making random changes out of sheer boredom.
There is where in the historical documentary of the Overwatch the Narrator would then say “and that was the moment queue times for DPS doubled”
lil harsh they actually have quite a bit invested in the game in its current state for a non recurring fee
I think you can point at almost any player at DPS queue with that statement and be correct. Just like everyone sincerely believes, that nerfs to tanks and supports will affect only red team, and their own team, of course, will remain as strong as ever.
Well to be fair, it isn’t just spam. 'Cree, Ashe, Hanzo, Widowmaker, and even S:76 can readily tear up anybody who isn’t behind a shield.
Most of the time, a shield is the only thing standing between any hero and Total Annihilation. Even if you were such a strategy guru that people thought of you as a bona fide Supreme Commander, you’d still need to mitigate damage long enough for your players to get picks. I mean, Red Alert here! Healing in this game means nothing without barriers since the damage is so high that no amount of healing can save you without a barrier.
No matter what strategy you think you could put together, you’ll never be able to Command & Conquer your way through matches without barriers stopping the worst of the high-alpha and burst damage flying your way. Even if they introduced another spammy DPS hero, let’s call him “Orion”, and even if you were the Master Of Orion, you’d still get deleted right quick by precision hitscan without a barrier to protect you.
What we need to save this game is a Forged Alliance of all players of all roles to push back against the devs and tell them that their ideas are bad for the game at large. Their drive to push the game to be just like any other instagib FPS like COD will just result in this game just being one of a thousand entries that already did it better, rather than a unique entry that stands head-and-shoulders above the very slim competition in this much more interesting field.
Homeworld, Sins of a Solar Empire, something something. Couldn’t fit those in.
