“Balance” patch

What people thinking about the patch? Personally I think it’s just gonna force double shield because sigma and orisa can’t main tank alone. Any pressure on orisa barrier and it’s gone in seconds and sigma was an ifie main tank to begin with. Dive can’t come back because reaper, me in and sym are still strong. So don’t see a change really. Maybe the new hero will do something.

I think the worries about Sigma not being main tank material are premature. I’ve been getting used to the barrier CD and he’s mostly fine so long as your healer understands that you’ll need a bit more attention than a Reinhardt will.

If you can play around corners or back a bit, he’s still strong because of his orbs and accretion.

Nah, everyone’s just going hog/orisa and shredding shields now, because he got a buff despite being already really good. It made the Winston/DVa/Lucio buff pointless because they can’t deal with the xtra damage.

dumb characters like reaper, orisa, moira still too strong. they are bad characters because you can play them halfasssed and still get value and get away unpunished.
characters like tracer, genji, winson, ana are only as good as the player is, play badly and you get punished.

Reaper or Bastion are still the easy way to hardcounter and delete a Winston popping off. No differences with Sombra and Mei destroying Hammond.

So yeah, I agree with you in that part, dive will not return as a meta, because as soon that composition is working, you just need to press H and switch to a hardcounter for an easy win.

But I’m not sure about Sigma/Orisa again, I think Hog/Orisa can be the new meta, because hog capability to destroy shields is really good right now. Also Rein/Zarya can be a surprise with the Lucio buff and Briggite hidden potential.

I’ve actually seen alot of Winston/DVA or Winston/Wrecking Ball comps the last few days and it’s been really successful. Winston is a beast again. Just that little bit of shield health and duration makes a huge difference.

Lol well that may have been me because I’ve been playing him nonstop. But fact is I run into Orisa/Hog/Reaper every.single.match. if not immediately they’ll switch the moment you start to do anything.

Its addressed some issues, but not all of them

Instead of making Sigma and Orisa no longer complement each other as main tanks, they’ve diminished how valuable they both are independently as main tanks. So instead of making them synergize less, they actually rely on each other more than ever… The combo is definitely weaker than it’s been, but now they’re both significantly weaker in their own roles as main tanks… So they still complement each other, but to work they also need each other…

They definitely took their time in implementing this change, but it also feels like it was a rushed, last-minute decision that nobody bothered to challenge. It’s like they said, “How can we fix this? Do ‘A’? Sure, whatever, I don’t even care anymore.”

Could make it so if there are two barrier tanks standing next to each other, that if a barrier takes damage, that it reduces the barrier health or increases the cooldown of the other tank.
Even if their shield isn’t deployed.

That would be terrible. The goal is to reduce how the characters complement each other, not take away their ability to do their job just because someone else is also doing their job.

The idea is to make it so double barrier doesn’t work well, which allows devs to make sure single barrier is as strong as it needs to be.

I get the point, but it’s just punishing “Player A” because “Player B” is doing their job. If I were to say DPS should lose their ability to headshot if there’s a second one nearby, that would be ridiculous.

According to Stylosa’s new video, nothing has changed in pro skirmishes since this patch hit PTR. Double barrier is still meta and no one really plays dive.

How about making it so if two barrier tanks are near each other.

Then the barrier takes double damage.

That’s like saying a DPS standing next to each other will deal half damage, or two healers being near will heal half as much.

People shouldn’t be punished that badly for their picks.

Why not? Otherwise they aren’t going to be able to balance single barrier.

The only difference I feel personally is how much nicer Lucio feels to play with his speed boost.

Other than that I haven’t noticed much

Ran him some yesterday, you get used to its no big thing unless the other team watches for the opening…

Because the idea in and of itself is ridiculous and punishing for no real reason.

There have been multiple main tanks with shields in this game for literally years and it’s only because of the synergy of two ranged barrier tanks that this is suddenly a problem
