Backcapping needs to be changed

Edit: I orignally had C9 at the title and didn’t understand what C9 meant. The term that happened in this game was Backcapping.

Below was my original text:

I’m glad this wasn’t in competitive. But I was playing Quick Play. We were owning the enemies on Blizzard World. Someone switch to Pharah and fly out of the map around and C9 the payload. How is this even fair? No skill what so ever, they lost every single fight.

People be going Sombra or someone else just to C9 then go back to losing again unless it was the final checkpoint.

What I want done? Well… A C9 warning or something. There’s currently nothing telling us that someone went to the payload. And ignore that pushing payload meter at the top of the screen. When a real C9 happens, you don’t know about it until the music sounds and it’s too late.


Edit: Apparently this was called backcapping and not a C9. Thanks to Blaze for mentioning this.

Nope, how can you troll a gameplay that can happen. Do you know what C9 is? I never heard the devs commented on C9 before though.

this is called awareness. you need to be aware of your current objectives, and whats going on, if you lose because you get off of a payload in OT you lost because of awareness, not the game being badly designed.

Obviously, the “and ignore the pushing payload meter at the top of the screen” is a dead giveaway. It literally follows an assertion that the game does not inform you when someone is on the payload.

You’re confusing the terms “backcapping” and “c9”

c9 is when a team loses because they are not on the objective even tho they could have been.

What you’re describing is backcapping, when a high-mobility or stealthy hero goes behind where the enemy is set up in order to capture the point. Backcapping is a valid strategy, and you prevent it by Paying Attention

TBH I’d blame the tanks, It’s their work.

Unless you go to Arcade and play Deathmatch or Team Deathmatch, which might be more to your liking.

When you’rein the heat of battle and winning the fight by killing enemies. One doesn’t look at the top of the screen as intended. Enemies feed intently as someone is C9 ing the payload without the other team realizing it.

It might be a strategy that sometimes work, but it is annoying to be on the receiving end of a C9 of it at times. It never happens in competitive to me though as I am a support. Gameplay for support is different when I play.

I was tank in Quick Play and was in front lines.

If a team is dumb enough to get backcapped they deserve to lose. Guard the payload. It’s not hard.

Be aware and keep and eye on the point? Call out to your team if you see something developing?

That’s not a C9. That’s backcapping.

If someone on the enemy team starts moving the payload and your team isn’t paying attention, that’s your team’s fault.

You let the enemy team blackcap the objective.

C9 is the opposite of backcapping. Instead of someone taking the objective, it’s losing because the point wasn’t being captured or contested even when there was every opportunity to do so.

I think I found where you’re going wrong.

Also I think you’re using ‘C9’ wrong, what you’re describing is called being back-capped.

C9 is because you were ON the objective then stepped off during overtime and lost it.

Do you? C9 is when your team is oblivious and loses the point, what you’re describing is back capping which is a valid strategy.

I honestly don’t understand because it DOES make a sound to alert you about the point. It makes an awkward beeping sound. It’s there to remind you of the objective: get on the payload!

It’s so sad when people not even know what c9 is.

I had a game yesterday in comp were the enemy team committed 3 c9’s in 1 game :joy:
