Heroes on defense in Escort and Hybrid are now more likely to notice when a payload is being pushed by a sneaky player and call it out with a voice line.
Please revert this recent change. Everything about this patch has been fantastic for the most part, but the changes above really don’t make much sense.
We should be rewarding the players who pull this off. It’s fun and shows that you have game sense.
It’s lame and un-immersive to have my hero say something when backcapping is happening. Just let them backcap. I deserve to be backcapped if I’m not paying attention to the objective.

Its players fault if they arent paying attention to the payload during a match. Why make it easier for those that DONT PAY ATTENTION. CMON!!!

Naw too many solo Q players don’t look up or play obj so GET USED TO IT?

My guess is because jetpack cat with infinite fly can easily sneak past and push the payload. I’ve already seen it in one game with the cat successfully pushing the cart to the end (it was just a few yards) and many unsuccessful attempts from cats in some other games.

That’s lame. Revert it. If the team does not realise from the bar literally right on top of their screen, they deserve to be backcapped. They really are trying to kill all skill expression in this game slowly but surely, huh?

Players did it with Sombra, Moira, Ball, Hell I have even seen a rein do it, Because people didn’t pay attention to what was going on behind them.
I am offended by that.. I solo Q all the time but I stay with the Payload/point I do the objective.. its the other butternuts that don’t pay attention and only care about their KD

Ever since they made point contests less consistent, I couldn’t care less about this change.
There are more bs caps where it doesn’t register one literally standing on the payload than there are times people will pay attention to character voicelines to actually make a contest.

Cat can be literally a fly in the sky, sometimes you can’t see her, she has a really small model. Anyways if people can’t see the payload being capped, they are not going to hear a voiceline and pay attention.

i have fond memories of back capping both points in a 2capture point match back in the day

kinda the point everyone making tho, the team should already by paying attention and shouldnt need a voiceline to tell them to do so. yes, its possible to get distracted, but if the enemy team blackcaps you all the way to the next point, thats the defending teams fault anyway and they will learn next time.

Bro, what the hell? I didn’t even know that’s a thing. Get rid of it yesterday. Don’t let the game babysit players who ignore the objective. Either they learn what the actual win condition is or they deserve to get backcapped.
It also shows the enemy is being stupid for ignoring the payload. Why should the game hold your hand?
Absolutely all of this. You will learn the hard way or not learn at all.

I’m going to disagree. I want them to amp it up. Maybe a phone call or a text when someone is backcapping. Certified mail would also be good.

That’s literally what the patch encourages players to do, it’s not like the voice lines are going to be so obvious that everyone always listens and responds to them

Yes, but if you manage to successfully backcap, you deserve the point.
Making it easier to sense the backcap takes away the reward of distracting their team.
Players need to remember to pay attention and not just because a voiceline is used. Footsteps for hearing if someone is nearby, ~reading~ the enemy Hog’s hooks… looking at the payload progress…. It’s harder to cap a point because it makes a noise, but it isn’t impossible.
And now we’re babysitting people who don’t pay attention. Sigh.
