B.O.B. summon voicelines, enemy vs friendly

Quick question, if you hear B.O.B. summoned how can you tell if it is an enemy or a friendly?

And while I’m at it, just an observation from my first couple games with Ashe. Sym’s Big Wall counters B.O.B. hard if placed right, while B.O.B. counters Big Wall hard if placed right… I’m loving this particular interaction between Ults…

“BOB, do something!” is enemy (or you as Ashe if you summon him).
“Get in there, BOB!” is friendly. At least I think that’s the line.

And yeah it is an interesting interaction. Also noticed that you don’t gain ult charge from healing him (at least I don’t think so), but you do get ult charge from damage boosting him.

yes this is correct.

one thing about Ashe and friendly vs. hostile voice lines though… is that I’m never sure who threw the dynamite when I hear her throw it

I hear
“Fire in the hole!”
“Smoke 'em out of there!”
and
“Here it comes!”

and I still haven’t gotten it straight which ones are friendly and which are hostile. Maybe they’re bugged and they’re not friendly/hostile specific, who knows.

I didn’t think those lines were team specific. Do other characters have specific lines depending on what team you’re on?

I think so, like you never hear a friendly reaper yell “REAPOSITIONING” for example
now that you mention it I’m not sure if regular abilities are team specific… but not many of them act as an alert for something to watch out for… in this case, dynamite ready to blow

the enemy dynamite does make a loud ringing noise before it goes off, so I guess there’s that

but it’s still a bit confusing because whenever I hear Ashe yell one of those lines I immediately start trying to look in every direction to spot the enemy dynamite

Your B.O.B- …
Enemy B.O.B- …

See I thought certain callouts were louder than others. Or maybe certain ones you just can’t hear on the enemy team. And I imagine callouts are just louder for whoever they’re directed at. “Repositioning” is louder for the enemy because its more important for them to hear it, but “Alert! Sniper detected” is louder for friendly because they need to know.

And also, why isn’t it “Reaper-sitioning”? It’s such a missed opportunity.

Oh, absolutely. A good rule of thumb that works for most Ults is that if it’s in English it’s a friendly, if in the hero’s native tongue it’s enemy. A few of them don’t have that element, though… I think that Bastion Ult sounds the same regardless… would be SUPER HAPPY to learn that I am wrong about this. ALL ults imo should have an audio cue to tell friend from foe.

I always did wonder how that works for non-English speaking territories, though…

I would DEFINITELY want to learn Ashe’s Dynamite voicelines if they differentiate between friend and foe… that seems like a pretty important one for all of us now that she is live.

Meanwhile… those amount of times I’ve ran for my life after hearing a friendly “NERF THIS!” and “Justice, rains from above!” :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Oh I absolutely knew about Ult voicelines, we were just wondering about the non-ult stuff. And Bastion is like Rein and old Torb: voiceline for enemy, no voiceline for friendly. At least if Bastion says something when he friendly ults, I’ve never heard it.
