Let’s say you and 3 of your random teammates are not toxic or throwers. You all avoided 2 different people, so that makes 8. Do you seriously think that avoiding 8 players will make any difference? i don’t see that making a difference in top 500 even.
Even in diamond where only 10% of the player base are, there are still millions of us. So even if you and your teammates avoided 2 different people, there is no way that it will have an impact.
It won’t even get better over time since its only 7 days. I really hope i understood something wrong here, but please blizzard stop protecting onetricks. That is the only reason that commes to my mind, when thinking about why that system is like it is.

How did you turn them testing server load into protecting one tricks?
What’s wrong with you?
Millions of players - in different regions and different distances.
MM will try to always find the closest players to you with similar ping and skill to the server. So everyone gets a fair shot.
I believe that the goal of this system is to keep a few toxic players out of your play session. It’s not meant to block everyone at once.
If it is to protect one tricks from getting long queue times, then they should change the avoid as teammate system to something like the following…
- Reduce the chance of being matched with someone you’ve avoided, but not guaranteed. If after a few minutes you’re still in the queue then include the players you’ve avoided regardless.
oh damn it
i am a gold gun dps main and you refuse to switch to a healer?
another one on my avoid player list
^ there

No there isn’t.
You got different regions, people on at different times, and you’re STATISTICALLY one of the ranks that have lower player counts.

Are you saying only 4 players exist in the game that can block players?
Because if you have not realized - that math is quite a bit off.
Say we have 10 players
p1 blocks 2,7
p2 blocks 3,4
p3 blocks 5, 8
p4 blocks 1, 5
p5 blocks 1,9
p6 blocks 4,10
p7 blocks 3,9
p8 blocks 4,10
p9 blocks 4,5
p10 blocks 5,7
player 1 can’t have p2, p4, p5, p7
player 2 can’t have p3, p4
player 3 can’t have p2. p5. p8
player 4 can’t have p1, p2, p8, p9
player 5 can’t have p1, p9, p4, p8, p9
Now it may look like some have few people blocked.
But others are blocking them too.
So the first 5 players p1 - p5 can’t even be matched on the same team together.
Players p6- p10 also can’t be on the same team together.
So the number of possible matching players drops exponentially.
It is true that with a larger player base this is “offset” - but that offset increases expoenetially for every avoid player you add to the list.
Jeff has said that they want to see how it affects matchmaking times in general (and server load, as it adds a complication to the matchmaking) if it’s fine then they’ll look at increasing it.
Yep.
I’ve been saying since they announced this that only being able to avoid 2 players at a time is a drop in the toxic ocean that is Overwatch Competitive.
A paltry 2 is nowhere near enough.
And only being able to avoid for a week is a pittance as well. Whatever reason you avoid someone, it’s almost a sure bet that they’ll be doing that same thing a week later.
It needs to be a permanent avoid.
So, players don’t have to wait long time on the queue.
Dude you can only avoid 2, not more. The number will never rise. So there is a maximum of 10 players, if everyone on your team avoided different people, that won’t be on your team. Only 10. Like i said i can’t see that having an impact in any tier.
Look at the Chart I provided.
Everyone has only blocked 2 people.
Why do some people have more than 2 people “unable to play with”? Again look at the chart.
There is no point in arguing, I provided you literally the statistical math of what is happening. There is no opinion, it is pure unquestionable math.
Unless you don’t believe in math.
The simple mistake you are making is obvious
You are only considering people on your team. That is a logical fallacy.
You do not consider the 6 people on your team.
You are supposed to consider every player blocking 2 in the potential squad and people blocking them.
That is the reason I provided you the chart and exactly how many are actually blocked.
I stopped reading after “Do you think only 4 players exist that can block.” Also you said in your last reply “You only consider players in your team” and then “you don’t consider players in your team”?
In a team there are only 6 players. I just picked 4 as an example. So your math is wrong
No it is an example as the number of people on a team doesn’t matter.
It is Ok though. You want to fail basic maths more power to you!
But ya. I gave you the data on how it works.
Showing you that the number of people on the squad is irrelevant but how it affects the pool of players.
You are like one of those Flat Earth people - looking at Data is scary.
So easier to say the Earth is flat and stop reading beyond that.
More power to you though - as they say,
Ignorance is Bliss!
Dude i get what you want to say now because i actually took my time and readed it. However i still don’t think it will be enough and hopefully jeff will rise that number as he said if that is the case.
In my opinion 7 days is enough, at least if you are an active player, and if you are actually a better team player than the one you want to avoid
In 7 days your SR should have increased enough for you to not be matched with that player anyway, and if it hasn´t, the avoid probably was a moot point and you and the other player are of the same teamwork skill level and should be matched up together
