Avoid player is broken

It needs to be designed to avoid a player ENTIRELY. Like, I don’t want to see this person’s face at all. Doesn’t really help when you have a toxic troll on your team, click Avoid player, and next game they’re against you, tryharding to really ruin your day.

I would be happy if there was 2 options: Avoid as teammate, Avoid entirely.

Because… it can be abused… such as:

Which happened pre-Season 1.

Everything can be abused. In fact, why even bother playing the game at all? You can pay $100 to a boosting service, get to GM, sell the account for 5x more than what you paid for it… and profit! I’m talking about avoiding being harassed constantly. No one should have to deal with a person that they blocked, avoided player, etc.

Because this was tried before, and people abused it heavily (like, better players ended up not being able to play at all, even if they never said a word, and people didn’t wanna play against them anymore.). The problem with Overwatch, really, is the sheer true lack of actual support from the company that made and published this game.

The better players should rank up, as intended. I’m talking about trolls who hang around, and alternatively throw and then win to stay in the rank.

Yes, but have you thought that legitimately worse players would use this to their advantage as well? It happened in pre-Season 1. What more now?

Are you diamond level though? If you’re as good as two ranks above you then you can easily cruise through your current rank. If you’re saying you’re plat worthy then it doesn’t mean much cuz there’s a lot of people who goes up and down one rank. shrug

If someone is bad on your team and you avoid, you should want to play against them to prove it.

If they destroy you on ofher team, then you’re the one who needs lower SR not him.

What kind of idiotic Darwinism mentality is that? I’m talking about not wanting to play with or against people who yell “N—er!!” over chat, type “go kys!” in chat, or hard throw one game, and then are unkillable the next. These people should not be playing this game. I probably fill out 100 reports per day because of it. I don’t want to “destroy them”, I don’t want to play with them or against them, or see them at all.

Just queue dodge them if you care that much. The avoid feature was added to stop throwers preferring certain players so they could ruin multiple games.

I don’t condone either the behavior you describe or the insults you are throwing at Acrobatc101.

The simple true is Acrobatc101 is right, there is no game value to being on (orange) match chat, hence if you see said individual is on the other team just preemptively leave match chat and there is nothing they can say to you the entire game (other than a mean emote or two).

However if said “toxic” player is now kicking your ars* round the map you’re just going to have to admit that they are better at the game than you are - in this case you deserve to lose -and sure- it is Darwinism, they are better than you, they climb and you fall.

Again, missing the point. We’re not talking about match losses, and losing SR. We’re talking about being able to play the game the way it was intended, while avoiding the people who make it necessary for those in-game QoL tools to exist. The tools at our disposal aren’t working as intended, if we continually are forced to face the same individuals causing the problems.

Given you have taken the steps I outlined:

  • Marked someone as Ignore as team mate.
  • Reported them for any egregious behavior.
  • Left (orange) match chat in the next game.

What exactly are you missing out on?

I hope you are exaggerating

I’d prefer to see the “avoid teammate” feature entirely removed. Instead, if I report anyone for any reason, I want the matchmaker to prevent me from being matched with them in the next two games. That’s generally the extent that I use the avoid feature anyway.

Yea but sometimes people are just bad, not doing anything toxic or even picking bad hero’s they just suck at the game.

These are people who don’t deserve a report, but frankly I don’t want them on my team next game - and it’s a bonus if they are on the enemy team.

If you’re this upset, it’s time to take a break. Wait 15 minutes and take a RL break (push ups, a walk , a punching bag…).

Come back refreshed and with the queue flushed.

If they threw your match because you were on it then were try harding to make you lose when you were on the opposite team, then wouldn’t that make you realize that maybe you should stop being such a dbag to your own teammates?

If you didn’t trigger them at all, why on earth would they bother making you lose on both occasions?

100 people per day doing that kind of abusive chat? I can see maybe 5-10 in a whole month, but anywhere even halfway to 100 per DAY has to be beyond an extreme exaggeration.
