You can’t force someone to not one trick and now you can’t force someone to play with them again.
I think both sides get the freedom they wanted.
Don’t be too sure, there are those wanting more power to avoid more players, and there are those wanting the feature removed entirely.
Like I said, if people who would grief me for picking Torb want to avoid me I’m glad, I want that, I want them to have enough people on their list ofr me to be there
It’s entirely fair except to those who didn’t have a care in the world how they effected other people’s gameplay but now want to complain they are being effected.
I for one enjoy the freedom and would just like the slots increased by a tiny amount. 5 would be nice and 8-10 would be heaven.
The feature is definitely a compromise for both sides, and I think this is as good as it will get. Doubtful we will get more slots added in, it’s meant for you to avoid extreme cases, not every one trick in comp.
Tbf, 2 is super low for ranks like gold/plat where a lot of players seem to settle in. I can understand players in those ranks finding themselves wanting the ability to avoid more.
And that avoid=bullying thread is hilarious and sad at the same time.
I feel that it’s a well thought out system that will be effective while not overly devastating.
Just being the devil’s advocate here.
I assume it would stack because just having 1 person who avoids you cuts you off from 4 other people too since they’re on the team of the guy who avoided you.
Yes, I believe that’s how it works. I expect groups of players who comp together regularly will eventually coordinate and avoid different people to get the most out of their 2 slots.
That sounds like a effective idea.
Now that I think about it, it’s going to turn into an unintended incentive to group instead of soloQ. In fact, SoloQ will probably get the perception of being the “one trick queue” or something of the sort. Things are going to get interesting in comp, that’s for sure.
While the freedom to use the feature is fair, one shouldn’t gloat about it and start to care less about the game.
This is something I fairly noticed recently, the moment there’s a one-trick, people have gloat about avoiding the person, then proceed to not try as hard in the game so that the game ends fast ( which usually result in a loss, even in a winnable fight if they gave a damn.) to avoid that player.
This is genuinely frustrating because I’m more pissed at the guy who soft-throw than the one-trick. This isn’t isolated either, I’ve seen this repeating with some frequency as well. I suppose some of the player true character is showing up now with this feature.
Is there still that mess with group queues and SR gain/loss? I don’t see groups getting too big if that’s still a thing.
yes, with all of the problems like giving you unfair enemies because it didn’t find another group, very long matchmaking time etc
Yes, matchmaking still accounts for the “group” advantage. Though, we shouldn’t underestimate how much the common player base dislikes one tricks as Xtracrizby commented. Players are genuinely gloating about avoiding people like it’s cathartic or something. I wouldn’t want to be a one trick before these changes, far less now.
It’s only good for the game as far as I’m concerned. Don’t have sympathy for anybody that gets long queue times because of this feature, even one tricks. If somebody gets avoided by tons of people, even if they aren’t breaking rules, it means that they’re a bad teammate, and it’s their responsibility to fix whatever they’re doing wrong if they don’t like it. It’s a fair system.
Probably because it’s a new feature.
It’ll die down.
Well, two things.
One, the queue times won’t only affect the “bad” players. Keep in mind that every individual player in your game will most likely have the maximum number of avoids. That means 24 players will be removed from the possible player pool of this game. If they increase the avoid slots - this problem will only grow in number.
Two, just because someone gets avoided by tons of people does not mean they are a bad player. It just means that the community perceives them to be bad, and a lot of times, the community bases this not on individual skill level or contribution to the match, but solely on what is and isn’t considered optimal or “meta” at the moment.
I want number of players you can avoid to mirror the size of the group in your mmr range. 2 avoids for us gold/silvers is not even enough.
