Avoid-As-Enemy System

Basically avoid as teammate but this time. you avoid the person as your enemy aswell. for anti-toxic person purposes.

You could fake your way to a higher skill rating by avoiding all the good enemy players, and avoiding as teammate all the bad players

Man, that Widowmaker wrecked me. I’ll avoid as enemy to stay in t500!

See how that works?

Back at the game launch, there were the function to avoid a player completely. It would prevent you from matching that player in either side of the field.

Kephrii was getting over one hour queue times because of that. I’m sure that there were other people, but Kephrii was the most known person who suffered that because of his fame at the time as ā€œthe best Widow in the gameā€.

Thus, the devs removed that options, and months later, they revamped it into ā€œavoid as teammateā€, to prevent people avoiding others because of superior (perceived) skill, and not toxicity. And if you avoid someone skilled because of other personal reasons (don’t like their main, don’t like their voice, whatever), you still risk facing that person on the other team.

Avoid as enemy will never return. This would simply bring back the reason why the avoid function was removed in the first place.

It was in. It was found to be terrible in practice. It was removed.

No.

I would love to do that to those Widow smurfs. But then again, I am a shameful Brigtte main. No matter how much she gets nerfed, I would never find a game

I didn’t know that this system existed in the past. But now I know.

This is desperately needed, just finished up a game VS 4 accounts that were obviously smurfs (Their names were dead givaways and them being only level 5-9) and unfortunately got paired up with them again in another game. Then, it is quite rare, but occasionally you meet the odd enemy player who knows a way to fix/rig a situation into their favor by abusing the games physics, etc. It would be nice to be able to just pop them on an ā€˜avoid as enemy’ list to keep from having to deal with their shenanigans.

As a side note, I know that implementing such a feature has its own inherit problems, such as: People might avoid all players of a high level that they see in order to only be paired against lower level players. This would be bad, as a counter I suggest that the Avoid As Player list be capped at 20-30 players, which the oldest player gets booped off the list as you continue to add new ones, this should ensure that the players are avoided for quite a considerable amount of time before you have the chance to encounter them again.

I actually used to prefer some people who really beat me badly back when ā€œprefer this playerā€ was a thing at launch. I wanted to rematch them or play with them more to get better myself.

I think avoid this player (overall, not just as a teammate) could be a positive thing for the game. Players who are often avoided can be warned by the system and potentially actioned if it is shown that a heavy amount of valid reports are sent in conjunction with the avoided status.

How about just a ā€œSafe Spaceā€ button?
When you push it, you play vs AI and always win.

why? why should someone be punished for being way too good at the game…

Xqc and dafrans queue times and gonna be 3 hours long if that happened

So there are only 3 good players? Ya know, I’m actually tempted to believe that.

Yeah, that’s probably what the OP wants it for. They can now police their own hackusations and smurfusations

You can use mute and block

You can also just never join match chat since it’s 99.865% toxicity and bragging.

Relax guys, he just brainstormed an idea. An idea that in practice was 3% useful and 97% abusable. I believe that he never intended to abuse it for his SR gain.

He even:

He gets my respect simply by admitting that he was unaware of that. Rare to see it on the internet.

Well, AI don’t cheat, that’s for sure.

This should be implemented. Just don’t have it in less populated ranks such as bronze, masters, GM so queue times aren’t an issue. We already have some rules that only apply to certain ranks (decay, PBSR) so why not include this as well?

As for the argument of only avoiding good players, that’s kind of the point. If you’re in the same SR range as me but nowhere near my skill level, you deserve to be avoided. Only actual smurfs would be mass avoided as they should be. Just like how only actual boosted bots and off-meta one tricks get mass avoided as teammates currently.

Kephrii didn’t even play at game launch, also you’re talking about a Korean who lived in America, I don’t exactly remember his name, but it was not Kephrii
