Why isn’t Blizzard using the stats system to normalize gameplay across SR and then automatically review & ban throwers after presenting a pattern of bad behavior?
They have the data to detect when a Lucio does nearly 0 healing or damage in a match. Why do I need to take the added step of reporting to ban these jerks?
I like the idea in concept, but I have concerns about it. Getting stuck against a team with an aimbotting DPS and they end just hard stomping games under Masters. “You did nothing but feed the enemy widow all game. banned”
Define the statistical parameters that consitutes “throwing”?
I myself have had damn terrible games at my top ranks, with a kill death ratio of about 1 to 8 at times. Just from that stat alone I would call that throwing, but I know in that game I was trying though I may have been tilted from the experience by the time the game was done.
More often than not deliberate throwing has to be defined by context of the situation and that is why player reports build a profile of confidence before Blizzard will take action.
Did you have heard of having worse day, or playing hero you are not good at? Or better, being countered on your main so your stats are bad.
Its not to just look at difference of skill of people in same rank, or outside, you play with people 2 rank range outside alt accounts.
I have had completely garbage games where we get stomped and Im not healing as much as I should be. Should I get banned because I had a game where I played so badly that I only got 2k healing?
I have had games where I pop off as Widow and get a ton of kills. I have also had games were I get like 5 kills total on her because its quickplay and Im being too stubborn to swap. Should I get banned for that?
Thats why automatic systems do more harm then good.
Mercy, who typically does no damage…what would her throw parameters be? Low healing? But what if she was being struck down by the enemy a lot or her other healer was another main healer, or she could be pocketing a teammate (which can be a very fruitful way to play mercy).
And then we have the question of things like “Our mei had low damage, but the walls that blocked enemy shatters/saved the team/trapped enemy tanks in.” Or a sombra with low overall damage getting key hacks, a widowmaker sucking wind because she’s getting dived until the last point on Havana, but then she practically carried.
What if you climbed a decent amount at an off-hour, then go back on at a major hour and start getting stomped?
There’s no way for them to do this that wouldn’t involve a lot of potential harm.
I think you would actually measure damage and healing output, not kills or accuracy etc.
If the player is a support and has a threshold below the bottom 5% for matches at one rank lower, it gets flagged for review. Same for DPS players with damage.
Tanks are harder because some have shields and some don’t. Some have self heals and others are tilted more toward damage. So in that case you might measure against the character vs. the class.
For example - the Lucio and Sombra from this game (who I have reported): BPC02D
