Disappointed that there is no discussion about Autobots or Decepticons in here.
Guess it falls on me to start one.
The original animated Transformers movie was my first exposure to the Transformers and the one I connected with the most was Ultra Magnus(I even have the figure in my room).
Now I can’t see me supporting the Decepticons.
Back in the day Transformers were made of diecast hard metal rather than cheap flimsy plastic and it felt rather epic owning one tbh
They actually fully transformed back then too.

He could hang with Astrotrain and…ummm, who was the other TC? Astrotrain is the only one they ever showcased in media.
I had a few plastic Transformers in the 80ties, then in the beginning 90ties, I found a metal Wheeljack in a Toysarus. I was so excited.

You ever hear of Go Bots? Those were also diecast metal as well and competed against Transformers.
I would stay in Tank Mode + Heli Mode the whole game probably

I had, I think, pretty much every toy from Transformers, minus the really, really late combiners like the Predacons. Wait, I didn’t have Trypticon, either.
I did not had too much Transformers toys (but I loved the series and comics). Allready blow my pocket money in He-Man and M.A.S.K.

The Go Bots cartoon was even on german TV. 
(I think they stopped showing it when the Ninja Turtles came out.

Bastion’s Stealth skin makes him a perfect Decepticon. Definitely one of the coolest looking skins in the game IMO.

I still have a soft spot for Soundwave and his pets, Skywarp & the Combaticons.

I actually still have some of the old comics. The OLD ones, with symbiote Spider-Man as a guest character early on (issue #3 I think?). Loved the lore, but maybe that was nostalgia.

I believe if they did try to categorize Bastion as an Autobot or Decepticon he would be in the Autobot category.

It actually looks like Shockwave from Transformers Prime. I think that inspired the skin

Shockwave has one of the most iconic looks in the game, and I’ve noticed it tends to stay pretty much the same through all the media incarnations. I also think he was the only Transformer that used batteries (in the toy) for the LEDs in his gun.
