still waiting for blizzard to address this random auto-scrolling bug while in menus, character select, etc only way to stop it is to move analog couple of times it’s been in the game since season one.

I’ve had this problem since the last update, the one before the anniversary update. It does not matter what controller I use, new, old, even no controller at all. I cannot select anything in any menu.
Things I have (unsuccessfully) tried:
-restarting console
-restarting controller
-resetting both
-uninstall/reinstall
-buying new controller
-using the dpad
I am using a digital version of the game.
Overwatch is the only game with this problem, I can play other games just fine. When I DO get in game for Overwatch, I can play with NO problems. This is strictly the menus.
Every. Menu.
I can’t open loot, I can’t look at characters, I can’t even select play. The only way I can play the game now is if my friends invite me to a party and then THEY select play. It makes Overwatch unbearable to play. Bliz if you have any heart at all please fix this, soon!
Edit: forgot to mention, I used this account for the first time ever in 6/7 years to tell you about this problem.

I just got a new ps4 and this problem is happening. Was already declining interest in the game, but this just makes me really want to stop playing. Please fix this!

I know it is considered bad sportmanship to unearth a thread this old, but… wow seriously @Blizzard would it kill you to at least make a statement to any of these threads?
There are quite a bunch of these, both in the archived “read-only” forum and this new one. Obviously many PS4 Gamers - customers of yours who bought your game - are having these problems and are rating them from annoying over nerve wrecking to game crushing.
These problems are reaccuring since day one. I myself encountered them many times, and for no better clue I have spent in total like 400 bucks for genuine and third party controllers for my PS4, despite the fact them NEVER EVEN ONCE showed the same odd behaviour neither in the ps4 main menu nor in any other game.
ONLY OVERWATCH. Only in menu.
But yeah, side effect of crotch-locking in spectator mode is a thing, too. But the main issue is the auto scroll in them menues.
It comes, it goes. Sometimes it is stopped with a single flick, sometimes it takes weird combinations of D-Pad, Analog Stick and many prayers.
Today, it doesn’t stop. The game as of today (Summer Games 2019) is UNPLAYABLE and UNENJOYABLE.
And thinking back, yes it has always been somewhere near a major update, when this ERROR occured, and I feel slightly enraged for both my dumbness in buying so many new controller and YOUR boldness, dearest OVERWATCH-Team, of simply saying nothing.
I won’t say you DID nothing in this case, since I also had enjoyable times of sharp, issueless menu guidance.
But I blame you for not SAYING anything in this matter. Are we consoleros a joke to you? 2nd grade consumers? Laughable minority? I hope not. I hope someone of you stumbles upon this Zombie of a thread and feels obliged to finally give an answer.
And guess what, it ain’t
- new controller
- new installment of game
- reset of console
- reset of controller
Thank you for your time, thank you for your game, but wow would I (and I guess many, many others) thank you for an answer.

Is there any updates on this issue?
I find it ridiculous that since launch and blizzard being a multi million dollar company cannot fix this and before they start on the whole controller issue or trying a different controller I can assure you its NOT THE CONTROLLER.
I have a brand new PS4 Pro and 99% of my games do not have this auto scrolling bug only OVERWATCH.
So it would come to the conclusion to put it simply a game issue, if it was happening to my other games, yes than it is a controller issue.
All the power cycle, reset options and possible fixes suggested by blizzard wont fix this until they patch it correctly.
The only way to stop this auto scrolling on the menu is either hold the left analog stick left/right and then it will stop and while you are holding either the left/right analog stick you press up or down on the D-Pad to go to your corresponding menu…seriously this is retarded and I should not have to hold both analog/D-pad when both should be working correctly.
Its either I select the menu using ANALOG/D-Pad.
This is not a viable way to do it, but I myself find it annoying that I cannot choose the right menu on time or endorse the correct people because of this bug.
Please fix this blizzard its 2019 FFS !!!

Bumping this again as Blizzard have done multiple patches and still have not addressed the issue since 2015…unbelievable…
I believe this is a easy fix and something about re-adjusting the “dead-zone”
on the left analog stick (since that is what is used to move the menu around) so they dont go all retard and move all over the menu screen…

Just checked the known issues bug list at the top of the forums and I am suprised
why Blizz has not added this to the known issues list when clearly this is affecting the majority of players…
Seriously Blizz stop ignoring this and pull your finger out of your backside !

really hope this is addressed it is beyond annoying especially when you are adjusting controls and sensitivity it sets it to zero and its happening more often now BLIZZARD PAY ATTENTION!!!

Same here. Maxed out my controllers sensitivity for ages now, but since Summer Games 2019 I got that bug again, and worse than ever before.
Tried to minimize the sensitivity, with obviously no positive effect. Can´t turn around as fast as I wished and the menu scroll bug still is persistent.
Sometimes affects hero choose, too, and always affects the enorsement system.

I know this is an old thread but I’ve had this issue since we got the game in Dec 2016 and with it now being Nov 2019… A little ridiculous. The only in-the-moment fix is moving the stick in the opposite direction the scroll is going until it stops, and even then you have to wait for it to be ‘done’ before it really stops.
I came here looking to try something as a fix today but seeing everyone say every suggested fix does not work… I’m not going to take the time reinstalling my game, you know?
Edit: I should mention in addition to it scrolling normal menus, it does this in settings, too: there’s been multiple times my specific settings have been thrown completely off (e.g. camera scrolled up to 100, reticle settings scrolled highest) because of this issue.

Do you all own any steering wheels for the PS4? If so try disconnecting that device.
I know I do not.
The only device connected to my PS4 has been my controller, and then my phone for second-screen typing: and this issue has been there since before I used my phone for that.
no its just a bug that blizzard continues to ignore it messes with navigation and settings within the menu they need to pay attention to this i dont know what i have to do to get their attention for this either

I’d recommend you still take this issue to #technical-support since it’s probably something that can be fixed.
If not then this topic will stay relevant. Just put it there and see if it can get resolved.

Oh, so turns out it’s not me or my controller getting crazy. Started to happen noticeably a few weeks ago in my case.

This is the most annoying thing I’ve dealt with in any game. Can it please be addressed already? Been going on sinslce the beginning of the game
I am having this issue on PS4 now as well. The main menu and pop up menu just endlessly scroll down. I am using a Dualshock V2.
This doesn’t happen in any other game. I dug out my old Dual Shock (which i don’t like using because it doesn’t support USB connection and it drops audio/chat a lot.)
The menu issue doesn’t happen with the old controller.
The Dualshock V2 works fine in every other game. I took it to a local gaming repair place and they tested it. I had them replace the left analogue stick. Still scrolls.
they’re for whatever reason choosing to continuously ignore this issue I gave up on it. they’re too concerned with nerfing heroes to obscurity or making them op it sucks.
