Why isn’t it an auto kick/ban whatever for typing “kys” in a game? Does Blizzard want to foster a toxic community or do they realize that they’d lose a lot of players for being this way because, again, they foster a toxic community?
Auto mute would be nice
Imagine being a poor player in Denmark typing in danish to your friends and you get banned
Jokes aside the game does need better moderation,I reported someone spreading actual fascist WW2 propaganda in chat and never got a follow up message saying they got banned.
It’s just the way it is.
oh it meant something! perhaps I’m just a boomer but I thought they were just telling me about the band Kyuss but like most kids today can’t spell and just shortened it
just remember, they could make it so you couldnt see ggez, but refuse to remove this one
I am fundamentally against the idea of automatically banning people. At best it should flag the account for manual review.
What would be great though is a far better filtering system. You should be able to completely customise which words get filtered, as well as how they get filtered (Do they get replaced by asterisks? Does it replace the message with a funny one like the joke gg ez filter? Does it prevent the message from appearing at all? etc.)
Why are you against immediate consequence for hate speech?
The important thing is context. It’s not always hate speech. You even wrote it in the title of this thread.
When is it ok to tell someone to kill themselves?
Again, you wrote it in the title of this thread. You would be banned right now even though you weren’t using it in an offensive context.
But for the record, some friend groups do do that kind of thing (Edit: to each other, not other people) and while it may be considered edgy, it’s not hate speech.
Plus it can be used to refer to a character in-game, not the player irl. I remember it was a very popular phrase back in old hide and seek custom games before they changed how the round timer worked, as seekers would literally have to jump off the map to end the round.
Plus as the second commenter alluded to, “kys” is the Danish word for kiss.
Or imagine a scenario where somebody tells you to “kys” in voice chat, and then you try to type out to the rest of the lobby what happened: “Lol this guy just told me kys” Banned
ingame it could be better to kill yourself, than to allow the enemy team to get ult charge
so in the context, would telling someone to just die, would that be a bannable offence?
Wow. It’s truly disheartening to know that you’re here defending the use of this phrase when its intent isn’t an edgy joke to begin with. I can’t imagine there being a whole lot of Danish speakers out there either, but here you are trying, as a teen that probably uses hate speech, to defend its usage.
I’d reevaluate some of your values.
I’m defending peoples’ right to use the phrase in a non-offensive context, just like you did in the title of this thread. It’s funny how you keep ignoring that part. It’s like you don’t realise you are advocating for yourself to be automatically banned
Feel like I’ve explained myself very clearly by now, so if you’re just gonna respond disingenuously like this then there’s really nothing more to say.
This isn’t the game first of all. There is a place here to allow for an explanation of the phrase being used.
You don’t have to reply again. I wouldn’t. You’re in the wrong and defending the wrong point. Objectively. I can’t help it if you don’t understand that the use of that phrase should not be allowed in game. Period.
you dont realize what that actually means its a death related thing
It won’t happen because it’s a proper word in another language.
The only way to only ban misuse of the phrase would be review by human moderators, but the idea of Acti-Blizz spending money for long-term benefits is utterly laughable. Kotick is throwing everything into the woodchipper for his personal bank-account before he gets kicked out for the gross stuff he pulled during his tenure.
It doesn’t mean kiss your step-sister?
Oh boy…
Just mute chat and play game.
I don’t believe that people actually stop doing things because people were mean to them.
Like what are they pivoting to? Valorant? lmao
